Have a collection of what appear to fossils though none authenticated, samples below. If correct, as they come in different media. Closest have found regarding simple care is a mixture of water and Elmers glue mixed up to to 90-10. Results are disappointing bt would like to have advice as some turn rust colored after a while. Additional question, is it advisable to wash salt from sea off before storing? Many different varieties including fossilized bone.

I have read on several websites about how to clean eye piece and objectives. From distilled water only , 90 % Isopropal alcohol, Vodka, and Everclear liqueur. Lens tissues, and Kimwipes. Q tips yes and no. I am asking more in reference to vintage microscopes than the latest and greatest optics. What is your technique. Microfiber cleaning cloths have come way down in price, as well as eye glass mini cloths. I find the ladies soft make up brushes are good for dusting, and my local drugstore carries Elf Brand for $1.00 each. Bob

Warning: I'm a total noob when it comes to fossils. I stumbled across this Ammonite fossil while hiking in North Texas yesterday. A few questions: 1. Is this an Ammonite? 2. Does it seem like the entire animal, or just a fragment? 3. I've cleaned it the best I can with warm water and a soft brush. Is there any hope of improving the appearance of it in any way? Thanks for any info you can give! Brian
