I found this bone on the Peace River a couple of days ago. When fist looking at it I took it for just a chunk of bone. Further inspection leads me to believe it could be a patella or other sesamoid. I have a couple of mammoth patellas and the surfaces somewhat reminded me of them. I have not been able to find a match after repeated searches so I am asking for opinions on what it could be. Measurements: 2" x 1.5" x 1.25" or 52mm x 37mm x 30mm Same side different angle. Same side different angle.

Found this in the Peace River, FL this week. I think it has enough definitive surfaces to provide an ID but I have not been able to find a good match/comparison. Any help with identification would be greatly appreciated. Measurements: 2 1/4"x 1 1/2" x 1 1/8" 50mm x 45mm x 30mm

I'm seeking confirmation (or not?) on a couple of finds from the Peace River earlier this week. So far my research leads me to believe I have a medial phalanx from a giant armadillo and a lateral malleolar (carpal?) from a Long-legged Llama. First up is the medial phalanx. Measurement wise I think the Giant Armadillo, Holmesina floridanus, is a good match. The specimen measures: 1" x 3/4" x 5/8" or 25 mm x 20mm x 16mm Next up is the suspected lateral malleolar from a Long-legged Llama, Hemiauchenia macrocephala. The specimen measures: 1 3/8" x 1" x 5/8" or 35mm x 26mm x 20mm Would appreciate any input to confirm or direct me to another possibility on each. Thanks!

Strange bone from North Florida id help please Mammoth? Mastodon? Carpal? Tarsal?

Hi Everyone! I recently acquired a bunch of Mammal bones from Florida and I've been going through them hoping to hone my id skills. But I'm still new to this area and would greatly appreciate some confirmation. I think this piece is a carpal/tarsal from a Mammoth or Mastodon. It measures about 3.25 x 2.75 x 1.5 inches and was found in North Florida. What do ya'll think?

Really stumped with this one, but it has a pretty distinctive shape, so I'm hoping someone with more experience can pretty easily tell what it is. Found it in southeast Texas. --Brandy

I found the below three bones in the same spot on my last visit to the Peace River. I have not had much luck trying to ID them. Maybe just because they are not preserved enough or whole enough to find a match. I am hoping someone might be able to make an ID based on the photos. I even suspected they may be all somehow related. I would appreciate any input. Thanks. All three together: The largest bone - partial small femur? Second bone - Carpal? Tarsal? Last one - Toe bone?

My kids and I found what I think is likely a fossilized joint bone. We search in Late Cretaceous green marl. The bone is from a small stream a few miles from the Rowan Fossil Park (Sewell, NJ). We've found many fossils in this stream but are just starting to ask for help identifying them. The circumference around the side is 10.5 cm and around the top and bottom is 9 cm, and the height 1.5 cm.
