Cretaceous Scale Insect female (Cenomanian Burmite). Leftover egg sacks??
Amber Fluid Neutral posted a topic in Fossil ID
Hi, I have what seems to be a female scale insect acarii(?) that still seems to have unfertilized/ stillborn young in a couple of sacks. 2nd photo, the pebble like things in the center of the body. The first photo is the famous specimen in the earlier stage of brooding. My specimen may be a late stage one. What do you make of it? -
While on an adventure with @Pilobolus, exploring the Dakota Sandstone and underlying shales, I found something very exciting*... ...my first coiled Nautiloid! Coiled Nautiloid Upper Cretaceous (Cenomanian) Paguate Member of the Dakota Formation Sandoval County, New Mexico Now, after a bit of research, I write here to lean on this Forum for assistance with identification. I find that this specimen sits well in the genus Kummelonautilus...what say you? Many thanks for your help, -P. *Bryan can attest to my yelling and jumping around. @FossilDAWG

Hi TFF friends, Here is one of my recent find. Hunting report to follow. I would like to get your help on this fossil. It looks like a bone and looks like fish to me but as it is the first time I found such fossil, some help would be welcome. It is a little bit smaller than 3 mm and broke right in the middle when I broke open a boulder on the shore. It is Cenomanian of age, and was found in Amakusa, Japan. Thanks by advance, David

Yesterday my girlfriend and I made a fieldtrip to the Northern French coast. The tides were ideal to search for the whole day in the late cretaceous chalk deposits of Cap Blanc Nez. The start was a bit slow, not a lot of fossils to be seen, but when going further up the beach the first ammonites started to apear. the result of the day where a few decent ammonites ( schloenbachia varians and Mantelliceras sp. ), a few shark teeth: Natalie found most of them and she found a spectacular cowshark teeth, the first one I ever saw from there. My find of the day was a small but complete Cymatoceras ( Nautilus )

During april i and a friend had the oportunity to spend a few days hunting in cretaceous of Normandy, hunting for echinoids. Day one : We drove from brittany through Le Havre to Saint Jouin de Bruneval and Antifer Cape. (3 hours and a half) We let the car on the beach parking lot and hiked south on the peeble shore looking for fossils in the boulders on the beach. The cliff is cenomanian with a bit of albian at the bottom. You have to look carefully on rocks surface for the familliar spherical shape. I found about 20 urchins but thats about it. No shark tooth, just a poorly preserved ammonite (mantelliceras) and a few rhynchonellas At some point we noticed tide was coming back faster than expected, most likely because of the wind pushing the water back. We had to quicken the pace, and made our way through the slippery covered with algae rocks. We finally managed our way back to the car and took the road to Fécamp where we had booked an hotel for the next 2 nights. some finds of the day : Crassiholaster subglobosus : Crassiholaster subglobosus : Cyclothyris difformis : See the all hunt gallery here http://www.thefossilforum.com/index.php?/gallery/album/2849-haute-normandie-april-2018/ or on my flickr : https://flic.kr/s/aHsmiwWft6

I bought this partial vertebrae about a week ago from a moroccan dealer for a very good price (I'm currently trying to identify many vertebrate fossils from Kem Kem, and this is somewhat a pause between two spinosaurid caudal vertebrae and a very big crocodilian mandible articular bone). Since many of you are way more experienced than me regarding moroccan vertebrae, I'm searching for more opinions. This small/medium sized specimen lacks most of the processes, but has some recognizable elements. It is laterally compressed and has a small keel running in its ventral region. I identified It as a caudal vertebrae, and the dealer told me it was a theropod. I don't think he had the skills to seriously identify anything, and I can't understand if It really is a theropod or a crocodile.

Most of the time what is found of this Rudist are fragments of the internal cast of its left valve. Complete, it can reach one meter. Those are three fragments found in different places of Port des Barques. The longest are abbout 11 centimeters. The largest and smallest one has a width of more than three centimeters.

Hi all, At the local market yesterday I bought these 4 teeth (in total for a very low price). All 4 are said to come from Morocco, but the seller didn't say the exact location. But I suppose that they are either from Kem Kem or Khouribga. Anyways I would just like your opinion on them (what species, 100% original or slightly reconstructed, anything I could do to "improve" them, etc). Thanks in advance! Best regards, Max Tooth #1: sold as a spinosaur tooth (so I suppose it's from Kem Kem).
