The more I look, the more I see. I need guidance and education about these fossils. The rocks (3) were found in Fulton County, New York. The first specimen shows some accidental shovel strike marks.It is shown with parts together in the 3rd pic.3rd specimen has 4 images-the second being a close up of the first shown. Each of all is quite weighty. (“please throw a bone” means tell me thoughts and opinions as well) Thank you.

I found this Gastropod in the same rock as the topic ("no idea what so ever"). Tully Limestone, Cortland Cnty., Central New York, Middle Devonian. This one is a bit different. I think the id is: Platyceras carinatum(from the "Field Guide to Devonian Fossils" page174-175). Am I close? Approx. 29mm or 1 1/8" long X 13mm or 9/16" wide. Thanks Greg

I've come across these two fossils...not sure what to make of the "cigar shaped" one(1 5/8" X 5/8")...not a clue where to look for an ID. The second one..."snail shaped"( 5/8")... I guess I should start under "Gastropods". Thanks Greg

This one has really got me. I can't figure out it's orientation. I've looked for id and the closest I can come up with is Viaphacops cristatus. But, not "seeing it...don't know. I think this is the correct direction...with the Trilopod looking up...but on the right side of the photo(on top of this direction) what would be it's back...the edge of the exoskeleton is convex...which doesn't make sense either, as shown in the 2nd photo. Hi all, gotten bit by the by the fossil bug and I am now analyzing everything I see. I found this on the beach of a lake (finger lakes NY) where I am regularly finding tabulate, rugose, brachiopod, bryzoan type fossils. It's a bit difficult for me to suggest any specific time frame simply because the glacier cut through many levels and then everything has been tumbled through rough wave actions. Hi all, I'm home on break in Syracuse NY and a warm spell has melted all of the snow, and I'm trying to get some fossil hunting in! However, I'm home for a short time, and I'm looking for some new CNY sites. I've put in countless hours at Cole Hill, Deep Springs, and Briggs, and I'd like to switch it up. I'd also love to add some new stuff that isnt trilos, nautiloids, or brachs to my collection. If anyone has recommendations (especially for fish bits or eurypterids) I'd really appreciate it!
