I appreciate everyones help. I have been able to open a few more of the concretions I brought home. Several look to be clams maybe Mazonomya , One even has an internal mold? I would appreciate confirmation if that is what they are. One is very circular, I have no real idea, was thinking maybe coprolite because I can convince myself that the three shiny triangles at one edge could be fish scales-- but I am probably overreading what ever is actually there. I am even less sure if the last concretion actually has anything but a rough surface inside the concretion but wanted somebody else's opinion before I tossed it in the dud pile. Thank you for taking a look and offering your suggestions. Valerie

Found some (what i presume are) bivalves on the same hunt i found my ironstone! I decided to post them separately cause i wanna be as active as possible without overcrowding anything. They’re a little over 2 centimeters, my estimate at least (i’m terrible at math and not familiar with the metric system so bare with me-)

Strange unidentified fossils. I live in an area where Ordovician fossils are most common.
Anomaly posted a topic in Fossil ID
Here are three fossils I need help identifying. I found one from last year's summer and two from a couple years ago. Here is a possible goniatite/gastropod. Sorry for the bad quality of the images, but if you look close enough, there is a small ammonite-like shape that has been crushed. I'll see if I can get better pictures if you guys ask in the comments. Right beside the larger one is a smaller one that is facing opposite too it. Both are really flat and their spirals doesn't go all the way in. Their outlines are very hard to notice, not sure if this is a fossil or just some rock formation. A twisting cylindrical fossil that branches into two. It has cracks and resembles very much a coprolite. Might be a rock formation, but I don't think so. Sorry for the bad quality pictures. A little round cone with lines all over it coming from the tip. It is round and underneath it there are more lines coming from the outside. If you guys could identify these fossils I would be very grateful because I could not. I would be glad if these were what I assume they are because they are very rare in my area.- 4 replies

Can someone tell me what exactly this one is? Found in Northwest Missouri Grand River. It's approx 1.75" x 1.5". I find alot of brachiopod fossils but this one doesn't match the markings of one, looks more like a clam or seashell. I would appreciate your thoughts!

I found this in a creek bed and looked odd to me. The rock on one side has the appearance of ivory, is very smooth and dense and on the opposite side looks like the inside of a fossilized clam shell. Can someone help me identify it.

Recently found a very large area covered with these shells on our ranch after a rain storm. It is in sweetwater county, south western Wyoming. Just curious what they are, what time period they are from, are they the kind that produce pearls, just a general knowledge of them. Any help would be great, thank you.
