    Help ID'ing Hell Creek Claw?

On my welcome post, I had mentioned that I was looking for a claw for my daughter. I was able to contact someone that has a claw that was found by them in the Hell Creek Formation in Montana. They state that it is from an Alvarezsaurus. I know very little about this dino. Only thing I could find when looking up Alvarezsaurus in Hell Creek is this Wikipedia Trierarchuncus It seems like not much is known about this particular species in Hell Creek. So, can any of you more knowledgeable folks identify this as an Alvarezsaurus, or possibly something different? Looks to me like it would be from it's foot. Thanks a ton for any help you can offer up!
  2. Hi all -- Found this claw for sale and am really interested in buying it. Seller acknowledges that exact species of theropod cannot be determined but that the fossil is from a good source in Kazakhstan. There do appear to be theropods from the region. Any obvious signs in these pictures that this is a fabrication? Just at a glance, it looks like the grain does follow the curve, which is the first thing I'd look for. Anything else that stands out? Relatedly, any signs that this is a composite toe (with bones from several individual dinosaurs put into one display)? The latter does not bother me too much but would be good to know up front. Thanks much in advance!

    Can anybody identify it yet?

So far the dimensions of what's showing is 15.2mmx6mmx1.5mm & it's starting to curve back into the rock. With no sign of the end yet. I'm taking my time & investigating the piece after every couple scrapes. Whatever it is, it's not as hard as the surrounding material. I'm going to wait till I get a response before I do anymore. Just in case any of you think I should turn it over to a professional so I don't screw up whatever it is.

Unidentified theropod claw from Hell Creek

Good morning guys! Received from a friend in US (I'm in Italy) a nice theropod claw from the Hell Creek, but the precise location is not known. We both assumed this comes from an Anzu wyliei hand, but we would like to know what you think about it. I'm currently not at home, so i can't make more precise photos in 7-10 days, sorry Thank you so much!
  5. Really beefed up my collection this year: Amber: Spent a while with my trusty loupe combing through Chiapas amber sold by the gram and found a very uncommon flower petal. The seller took a moment to offer up a page on his phone about the healing properties of amber, and he gave me a polite nod and laugh when I said I'm more interested in the scientific properties. I like dead stuff. Big Claw: Always wanted a thick beefy claw! Labeled as a Carch claw from Kem Kem but after reading some of @Troodon's posts it could be a Spino or generic theropod. Really love the shape of this thing. Crab: Unfortunately about 20% of the crab's lil' butt was crushed sometime between purchasing and driving home. He's so delicate. There's a nice interior view of the underside of the carapace now, though. Any info about this guy would be appreciated! Skinny Theropod Claw: A little rough around the edges but I was really drawn to the curvature and sharpness of this one. Labeled as just "theropod" so I'm not sure if it's possible to tell what it's from. I can post more photos for identification.

    Triceratops or edmontosaurus?

I have what I'm pretty sure is a triceratops hoof, but I've come to understand edmontosaurus and triceratops hooves are hard to tell apart. It's from the hell creek formation, Montana. It's 3.5 inches across and long
  8. Hi, does anyone have or know where I can view images of a ankyloaurus/nodosaur foot but especially the ungals? Having a hard time finding images for a comparison.
  9. Hello I recently found this claw labeled as Rugops primus finger. It also says it is a composite piece. I was wondering if the claw itself is authentic, without restoration. Location: listed as Kem Kem, near Taouz, Morocco.
  10. Hello everyone, as im following up on my previous post while im on vacation someone tipped me to visit a local Fossil shop in a small town. So they have a massive Spinosaur Skull displayed and what interests me the most a huge claw with bone. sadly i had a language barrier and someone from my friends translated a bit for me. The shop owner was not very friendly and seemed a little suspicious with my questions ‘are they authentic’ and ‘where lies there origin’. He then told me they are purely authentic and that he was doing this for 35 years. He took it personal that I asked him this. Once I revealed my collection he was like oh this guy knows a bit about Fossils. What fascinated me the most about this story is the fact that he then told me these were found locally in a place in France named Pourrieres. A hidden private property place were only 3 people know about. I was like what ? I thought they only lived in Egypt / Marokko etc. Very interesting. Does anyone know about this? anyway the claw is calling my name , it wants me to take it home lol. But it does not come for free, quite te opposite. So it would be very apreciate if you guys could let me in on your opinion about authenticity / quality. As im still a new collector that just started this amazing hobby. Curious to your thoughts! thanks best regards, Phos_
  11. Hey everyone. I found these in a creek while traveling around Ohio. The areas are known for fossils, but I can't tell if these are actually teeth or if they are just some kind of rock formation. Any insight would be much appreciated.

    Hatchling Dimetrodon Claw?

Hi y'all. Found this in some Permian micromatrix from Waurika, OK. There's no way I'm this lucky, but is this a very tiny Dimetrodon claw? I've tried to get access to this paper, but still waiting to see if the authors will send the text. I'm fairly confident it's at least sphenacodontid, based on pictures I've seen on the forum. It's about 3 mm in length. @dinodigger@jdp
  13. Hello everyone, I have just discovered this Forum, and I have to say it looks amazing! I feel like I've come to the right place, it has everything regarding Fossils and knowledge of people. I hope to find some additional Fossils here for my collection I have just a few questions: Is it actually legal to dig up Dinosaur Fossils? Im just wondering as an example, if you dig up a Triceratops in Canada, or a Tyrannosaur Rex in the States (what would be awesome) is this allowed to search/dig for them? Can you just visit a digging site and start on your own, how does it work? And my next question, if you would be lucky enough to find a Dinosaur Fossil, can you keep it? Or is it illegal to keep the Fossils, and are they curtesy of the Country? Perhaps the laws are different in each country but still. I have been told that it's impossible for example to get a Velociraptor, due to the fact that it's found it China, and the laws are extremely strict in Fossils shipping. Or another example, because Dinosaurs are found in all parts of the world, lets say you find a Mosasaurus in an unkown Fossil digging site, what do you? Perhaps these are stupid questions, but I've been wondering this for weeks now. I have started my collection, and I got some nice Megalodon Tooth from Indonesia, and some Spinosaurus and Carcharodontosaurus tooth, now these tooth are from Morocco Kem Kem region, I feel like this is the only place left out there were its somewhat legal to dig up al these treasures, and ship them to other parts of the world. But even here, I have doubts if this is Legal. They told me if they don't sell them, they would just be destroyed because of the digging mines to make fertilizer. Im just asking because it's a dream to go Dinosaur Fossil hunting one day. Thank you for your reply's! Best, Phos_01 ps. For those who are wondering, here are some pictures of my Fossils in my first Member post:
  14. Hello everyone, I would like to know if someone can help me identify if precisely these remains correspond to triceratops, or to some indeterminate ceratopsian at least. They all say they are from the Lance Formation, with no county, state, or anything. They are different types of bone, which I will detail below. 1. Sect of the jaw 2. Section of the upper jaw 3. Mandibular sect 4. Ungual, foot claw I await your comments, and thank you very much in advance.
  15. Hello i saw these claws to sell, the left claw have some red flags but the right claw looks great so i have doubts about it. What do you think about the right claw ?

    Unknown thing

My son found this in the same spot or general area as the ammonite thingy. They both have similar markings as well which is odd to me I guess. It's about 3" long and 1 " wide at its widest. thank you in advance

    Micro Claw-Lance fm.

Hi everyone! I came across this little piece as I was sorting through some of the anthill matrix I brought back from Wyoming's Lance formation. When I first found it, I must not have recognized it as a partial claw as it ended up alongside other odds and ends (fragments of bone, gar scales & other misc. fossils) at the bottom of a pill bottle where I had deposited all of my pickings. This week, however, I emptied that pill bottle to see what was inside in order to organize all the micros I found from this locality (which will get its own post eventually). It's evident to me that this is a claw given it's pair of blood grooves, but it's far and away the smallest in my collection thus far at only 3 mm in length and 2 mm wide. I'm sure it may be a long shot for a definitive ID, but I wanted to see what opinions you all had. And for what it's worth, the flat base and lack of curvature makes it look similar to my ornithomimid claw from the Judith River. These next two focused more on the forceps than the claw unfortunately, will retake these soon.

    Crustacean Possibly

I don't think I posted Larry yet, but here he is! Meet Larry the Lobster! He didn't look much like a crab. He looked more like the Lobster from sponge bob. The lobster was buff and this one looks pretty buff to me!
  25. Hi all, thanks to @Troodon and his wonderful guidance I felt confident to purchase my first fossil claw. Now after thorough cleaning and proper documentation I wanted to get your input on a possible ID. The claw was found in the Hell Creek Fm., Garfield County, Montana. It's 1,82 cm (0.72'') in length and as you can see some of the tip is missing. The ventral surface is a bit flat so I guess it's not a Dromaeosaurid, but it also does not look like Anzu to me, but I am a claw-novice. Thanks for taking a look!
