  1. Hey Everyone, I know these get posted regularly but I'm hoping to get some advice on a Spinosaurus claw I purchased. Its a little beat up but a decent price and would be a first hand claw for me. Cons: The light color I know is usually associated with bone thats been carved, its 6 inches and not a bad price which Troodon will say are two large red flags. Pros: The tip fell off in shipping and I can say it is hollow inside, I THINK the grain of the bone follows the curve of the claw. I'm curious to hear what the forum thinks.

Is this a tooth or claw?

Hi, I found this at charmouth beach near lyme regis over the summer, my first thought was a tooth but it does not look like icthyosaur or plesiosaur teeth. It is pyritised like the ammonites found at charmouth, so I believe it is mesozoic in age. Could it be a pterosaur claw, or just an odd shaped tooth? Any help much appreciated, thankyou.
  3. I've recently found an interesting specimen on one website - a phalanx and a claw of a Kem Kem dinosaur (?). Claw is 24 mm, phalanx is 17 mm. I don't know if they are associated. However, the price really surprised me - it is more than twice lower than a typical price for moroccan claws. Do you think it is real? I think I see some restoration on the claw, but I am not very familiar with moroccan dinosaur bones, so I would like to ask opinion of forum members. Do you think I should buy it?

Claw ID Help - Bouldnor Formation, UK

Collected recently from Bouldnor on the Isle of Wight. It is about 33 million years old (earliest Oligocene). Fossils of turtles, a small alligatorid (Diplocynodon) and land mammals (most commonly anthracotheres) are the usual finds. This is the first ungual i have ever found from this location, and i am having trouble finding images of other examples to compare with. It measures 18mm long. I first thought crocodile when i collected it, but i would like other opinions. I'm now tossing up between mammalian and crocodilian. I understand going further than that will probably not be possible. Cheers!

    Moroccan dinosaur claw

Hello I'm not too expert in fossil but I take from '70 collection this plaque that should came from Kem Kem, the claw is 4,7 inch and the plaque 15 inch long. The matrix is very hard, near red colour like was presence of iron, formed by small grains and seems to be unbroken recently because all borders are like sand eroded, maybe this type of pieces came directly from sands of desert? I've searche on Google but I don't find nothing similar. Regards
  6. I was digging through some of my stuff while rearranging my fossils and I came across this claw core, but I do not have the ID or location anymore. I believe that it might have come from Texas, but I am not sure- Any help on ID would be appreciated.

Hey, just curious if anyone might help out on this ID. Hysperonychus? Sourornitholestes?

    T-Rex toenail?

There is a spring fed pond in Weatherford, Tx. that has a grouping of the largest fossils that i have ever seen. These fossils were gathered and placed in a circle around this pond by ancient Indians who lived there prior to and during the time that my friend's ancestors purchased the land. Some single bones are larger than my car, only a very few could be picked up by man alone, and I got a few by the owners permission, and here is one of those!
  9. I just got my large Acheroraptor temertyorum digit II-3 killing claw back from the restorer. He added the missing 1/4” back on to the top of the articulating end and added the missing 3/4” of the tip. The rest of the claw is complete, as it was found nearly whole. It’s one of my prized possessions and I am so happy with the restoration work. The claw was found in Powder River County, Montana’s Hell Creek Formation.

Claw from the Eocene of Virginia

I just found this 7mm by 3mm claw searching matrix that I collected years ago from an Eocene site in Virginia. The site was a near shore, marine environment. I found a good number of turtle and croc fossils at the site in addition to fish, shark and ray fossils. However, I also found close to 100 bird bones of different species and several terrestrial mammal specimens. Unfortunately the specimen is not in the greatest condition. I've found lots of crab claws at the site but it is definitely not crab. Out of the possibilities of reptile, bird and mammal the claw looks like it is from a bird to me based upon the curve. What do you think? Marco Sr.
  11. Hi. Im hoping someone could identify this specimen. It's very small, a little less than an inch long. I thought it was bone fragment at first but it also resembles some claw characteristics.

    River Finds

Hi all, Recently my brother and I were on the Republican River in NE Kansas after the water went down a little and found a bunch of bones and bottles. I am having trouble determining some of the bones as bison or cow, so I need your help here. And also, we found what I think is a claw, measuring about an inch in length. Thanks for the help, and let me know if you need more pics. Cow or Bison lower leg? I think its bison; it is pretty heavy and seems to be well mineralized, but not completely fossilized. And the mystery claw-like object
  14. Hello, Seller says it's from the Cretaceous of China. He doesn't know the exact location, does anyone her has an idea? Claw is 3,6 cm long. Seller says it's dinosaur, but looks reptilian to me. Does anyone has an idea what species this claw is from? Thanks

    A claw core

Satisfying my fossil gene by sorting ziploc bags of old finds. When I am busy hunting (3-4 times a week) , I just dump lots of finds without looking too closely. That gives me the joy of discovery even when I can not go hunting. Here is a group photos of some small one that intrigue me. I am some what lazy and have not take small pictures of all these little one, but selected the one that seems to be a claw core. It is 1.25 x .6 inches. Hopefully others have found similar ones in the Peace River. I seems to have a denser core just sticking out in the 3rd photo down.

    fossillized scratch marks?

I found this rock next to a public road within 2 ft of roadside. Brookline, MA area. FYI it wasn't embedded in the ground, just laying on top. Originally assumed it was a stone-worked scrap or maybe damaged by a snow plow blade. Chisel marks from a stonemason in-training 100+ yrs ago? But it's kind of 'organic' looking in the patterns of the 'scratches'. The more i looked at it, the more I considered it might be a fossil. Claw scratch-marks from a prehistoric animal? Impressions in what was once mud ground? Not sure of rock type, but it's very hard rock. If granite then not likely to be a fossil, I know. Detailed photos included. Happy to be proven wrong in my notions, I just want to be sure in the offhand chance it is a fossil. Thanks in advance for your feedback.
  17. Hello I am currently looking for partial dinosaur claws to trade with pm me if have any.
  18. Hi For some time, I am working on a composite of a juvenile Spinosaurus foot. Currently, it is about 65% complete. Finding bones that are a good match in terms of size/geometry is quite tricky. More specifically, I am looking for the following Spinosaurus material that comes from the Kem Kem beds in Morocco: - 3 phalanges with a length between 50mm and 70mm (2 inch to 2.75 inch)- One foot claw with a length of about 70mm to 90mm (2.75 inch to 3.5 inch) - The metatarsal at the backside of the foot (digit I), about 60mm long (2.4 inch) - The reduced digit V, about 90mm long (3.5 inch) In return, I can offer interesting dinosaur material from the Cretaceous and Jurrasic including teeth, metatarsals, vertebrae etc. I know that this request is probably a long shot. However, I noticed that there are several more fossil enthusiasts who collect material from the Kem Kem. Maybe you can help me with that.

Hi All, Can someone kindly attempt to identify this find? Found it on a hike in the Canadian Rockies at an elevation approximately 2000 meters. Note some tiny porosity on side and bottom surfaces. Thanks for looking. End Tip Side View 1 Side View 2 Top View Bottom View
