Hi @Troodon, I've got one more for you. It's from the Hell Creek formation, Power River co, Montana. It's 7/8" long, but might have been more like 1.5" long if complete, since the point looks like it'd get very slender and long. Potentially with left blood groove swinging up around the top. (The blood grooves are very asymmetrical in trajectory.) Thanks!

A suspicious Spinosaurus claw
FF7_Yuffie posted a topic in Is It Real? How to Recognize Fossil Fabrications
Hello, thoughts on this Spinosaurus claw, please? The color looks very odd to me--usually, claws I see for sale are more of a sandy color. But then--given the fact there are a lot of faked spino claws out there, I figure I can't really go with what I spot online. Also--the mosmatyched colors--some light bits, some dark bits. Finally--the structure of the claw is very rough. Much rougher than other claws I see online. Also--when I look at the groove, it's very rough and jagged. Not a smooth shape. I would appreciate others thoughts.- 4 replies

Two claw fossils - real or fake?
Norholt posted a topic in Is It Real? How to Recognize Fossil Fabrications
Hi all, I picked up a Lot of 15 fossils and one very large whale vertebrae at an auction recently. Sadly it had all been treated as junk and several fossilised teeth had been broken, one tip lost, no identification or history attributed to the items. I find it quite sad when a fossil survives for 100+ million years in nature then gets wrecked immediately in someone’s care because it doesn’t make as much money as a pair of earrings . Anyway, going off topic... so I have this group of unloved fossils - teeth, vertebrae, bone - which I will probably never be able to fully identify. Amongst them all are two claws and I can’t tell if they are real or fake. They are about 3” long, light (21 and 25g), feel brittle and not very dense (like clay though they are obviously not clay). They are not resin or plastic. The thicker claw seems to have a seam around the middle as though two halves have been glued together. What are your thoughts? How do I find out more? I’ll post the other fossils in the ID forum. Many thanks. -
Hi everyone, I saw a claw from the internet. But I never see something like it. May I know that is fake or real, please? Thank you

This one is Iguanodon atherfieldensis/Mantellisaurus (Hand claw)? The seller told me this claw is come from Brook Bay, Isle of Wight, UK.And the claw has been partially worn down by the sea's actions but still retains it's basic claw shape. Can anyone tell me that is real or not? Thank you

Real Spinosaur claw or fake?
Cris Tang posted a topic in Is It Real? How to Recognize Fossil Fabrications
Good afternoon, May I know this claw is fake or not, please? Because the color seems not natural. But I’m not sure about that. So I hope to learn more about it. Thank you so much. -
Hello, here is a new type of claw for me. I found it a couple days ago in a Lance Fmtn site I have in Wyoming. This claw is 1" long. It has an unusual 'twist' to it in that the left side drops down if you are looking at the point view. Almost like it is 'torqued'. Please let me know if you have any info. Is it turtle, crocodile, or dinosaur related? Thx!
