  1. Izan

    Cleoniceras ID

A few years ago I bought this Ammonite in a fossil convention, but I don't know the specie. Somone can help me? Thank you.
  2. With pleasure I want to show you my collection of fossils - it's a work in progress. My first piece is this Lycoptera davidi from Western Liaoning, my brother's gift for my birthday. The plate is 13 centimeters long, the fish 8 centimeters long.
  3. Marco90

    Cleoniceras sp.

From the album: My collection in progress

Cleoniceras sp. Parona & Bonnarelli 1895 Location: Atsimo-Andrefana, Madagascar Age: 157 - 155 Mya (Oxfordian, Upper Jurassic) Measurements: 4,5 cm (diameter) Kingdom: Animalia Phylum: Mollusca Subphylum: Conchifera Class: Cephalopoda Subclass: Ammonoidea Order: Ammonitida Suborder: Ammonitina Family: Hoplitidae The ammonite is iridescent. In some parts is visible the elaborate ammonitic suture pattern.
  4. This is one of my favourite fossils of my collection. Hope you like it too! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Species: Cleoniceras sp. Size: 6,6 cm x 5,3 cm x 1,9 cm Age: 145,5 mya (Lower Cretaceous) Origin: Tulear, Madagascar About the fossil: the beautiful red color of the shell and the more "white" one near the center of the specimen are a product of opalization (more specifically, the type of opal that formed in this specimen is red opal). Edit: It's not opal, it's aragonite.
  5. Hello. I was wondering if anyone could help me with some fossil identifications. Thanks for any help. First, here is a Green River formation fish plate. I know the fish are Knightia, but I don't know how to differentiate the species. I think they are Knightia eocaena. Can anyone confirm the species? Thanks. Next, here is a shark tooth I found while digging on the Ernst ranch in Bakersfield, California. It is either Carcharodon hastalis or Isurus desori. I'm not great at telling the two apart. Can anyone confirm the species? Thanks. Last, here is an ammonite I received from caldigger. He identified it as Aioloceras besiaiei. I think the species might have been misspelled and is supposed to be besairiei. I've seen these sometimes referred to as Cleoniceras. Does anyone know the difference between Aioloceras and Cleoniceras? Thanks.
  6. NIKUNIKU

    Ammonite from Madagascar

Hello. This is the ammonite I have. Are these names Aioloceras besairiei? Are these all the same type? Since I am Japanese, I use Google Translate to write this sentence.
  7. gieserguy

    My beautiful ammonite!

I just wanted to show off the beautiful colors on my Cleoniceras ammonite, unpolished! Unfortunately I don’t know the origin country of this ammonite because I bought it from the Lizzadro Museum in Elmhurst, IL.
