I'm so excited to find the forum and hope to be a helpful participant. We find fossils in the dredge spoils along the South Carolina Coast and along the ancient shoreline about 30 miles inland. Here is a recent haul. Would love help if anyone can identify the triangular fossil on the right side below the pottery shard.

Is this just a rock or a fossil of some sort? I know nothing about fossils, but am getting good at spotting them on the beach. I am an avid sheller and beachcomber and stumble upon Pleistocene aged fossils in South Texas. This piece looked different to me. Thank you so much. It measures approximately 1 inch by 2 inches

Would these be tilly bones of some sort? I have found the heart shaped tilly bone but never this shape. Thank you so much

I found this fossil, that I think is a vertebra, though I am not sure it is. I was thinking dugong bone, but if anyone has suggestions they’d be much appreciated. Thanks!

Hi there, so happy to find this forum! I found this on the beach yesterday and excited to see what you might tell me. This area seems to be rich in fossils of sea turtles, shark, etc.

Hi there. I'm a newbie with basically no experience in fossils, other than a great interest in natural history, past and present. I'm mostly here to learn, but I've an interest in fossil hunting if the right opportunity presents itself. My dad took us fossil hunting at Sharktooth Hill way back in the 60s, and that's the level of my experience. So...with that said, I'll begin delving into the content here. Looking forward to learning more.

Hey all! I'm new to the forum so I thought I'd introduce myself with a find! I found this one while searching for artifacts in my historical geology class. The rock was found beside a dock located on a river right off the ocean (wilmington, nc). The location this rock was found in had several varieties of rocks including clay, siltstone, and scorria. This rock appears to be chert. It has glassy cleavage and banding along its side. It also reacts slightly with HCl. The small bore holes on the top surface come in pairs. My guess is that they were formed by Polychaeda? I am really having trouble identifying the marking on the front, however. They appear to look almost like tire tracks with several ridges along the edges is them. Can anybody help me ID this one? Here is a view from the side.

Hi! I'm new to scene and have only just begun to expand my knowledge in fossils. Having said that, I'm open to any suggestions, knowledge, education, methods, etc. as to how to figure what this specimen is! Thanks for your time, much appreciated. I found this about a 1/4 mile off the coastline in a seasonal drainage in Northern California. Ohhh FYI my scale is set in grams

InquisitiveOsteology posted a topic in Fossil ID
I need help identifying a few "potential" fossils I found on Topsail Island in eastern North Carolina, USA. Below are four coin size specimens. I have plenty of questions about each -- mainly, are they even fossils in the first place? -- but all and any additional information is also welcome Thanks! 1.) 2.) 3.) 4.)
