    Hello

Hello. My name is Daniel. I am simply an amateur collector, but been doing it for over 35 years. So, I have rocks all over my house and my wife says she lives in a museum. I’ve found much of my collection on hikes and trips to quarries. The rest I’ve gathered here and there.

    New Dino lover

Hi been looking at this forum for a while and decided I can contribute and learn something. I love Dinosaurs and a super supporter Nanotyrannus as a valid species. Just makes sense when you see the evidence. Off my soapbox happy to be here.

I am new from New Mexico, USA. Am not sure how to post and this may be a reply to another new member introduction.
  6. Hello! My name is Elaine Scott. I am a new member to the forum. Exploring the mountains in the high desert and rock/fossil hunting is a hobby of mine. I have a small collection of interesting items. Some of which I will ask for help identifying, I look forward to feedback! I see there's soo much content to explore on this site I'm pretty sure I'll spend the next several hours (and many more in days to come) scrolling through it all. I hope everyone has a great day!
  7. Hi everyone, My name is Rob, I'm a 21 year old biology student from the Netherlands and I've recently rekindled my passion for fossils. After browsing this forum for a while I decided to become a member! I currently own a handful of fossils, ranging from the Pleistocene to the Carboniferous (including a plant fossil I found myself at a former coal mine). I'm looking forward to learning more about fossils identification, ethical fossil hunting and paleontology in general
  8. Hi all from rural Worcestershire in the UK. Been collecting around 20 years but have now really got the bug!! Recently started prepping and getting lost in the shed for hours and hours. Looking forward to contributing in the future and conversing with like minded souls. Kind regards Craig

    Hi from Germany

Hi all, I was invited by a fellow fossil enthusiast to join this forum, after being active on the largest German fossil forum "Steinkern.de" for about a decade now. I'm a geologist by profession. but actually more a paleontologist by training and passion. My scientific interest is mostly on vertebrate paleontology, but as a collector I'm interested in a broad range of things, from geolocical and paleontological oddities, to rare specimens from historic locations or just really anything from any time period that has an interesting story to tell (hence the username). My 'core' collection is focused mostly on own finds from the Triassic and Jurassic of Germany and adjacent areas, but since I moved to the western part of Germany, there's an increasing number of Devonian and Carboniferous finds in my collection. Last year, I had the amazing opportunity to join a dinosaur dig in Wyoming and to meet many new friends in the US, so it was about time to join an international forum, too. I'm looking forward to many interesting discussions here! Xaver
  10. VINGOP

    Hello from Greece

Hello, I am VINGOP, an amateur fossil collector (my hobby) and a teenager. On this website, I would like to help other people identify their fossils and get some help for organizing my collection. Also, I am learning to play the piano, one of my favorite hobbies.

    Fossils affected by moistness?

I live in a reasonably moist air. It's definitely not tropical levels of humidity, but while I can keep my fossils in mostly airtight areas, I am still worried about them being affected by moistness, especially after reading this thread: https://www.thefossilforum.com/topic/136882-a-sad-day/ So, are there any fossils or replicas I should avoid which get destroyed by humid conditions? And, what would be the best way to preserve the fossils I do have or end up getting? I store most of the 'show-stopping' pieces in a display cabinet, and have a couple in storage.

    Hello

Greetings from Singapore! I have been following this site for a while now and finally created an account. My fossils are unfortunately all bought as there are no fossils to be found here. I have been collecting more common fossils but am looking to collect rarer fossils. Might be looking at a trip to indonesia to buy or harvest megalodon teeth or just to take a look at the operations there.

    Hello!

Hi all! Was once a classic dinosaur-kid, but the interest has come back in full-force! I love cambrian-era fauna, my favorite being the Anomalocaris, and its Pokemon equivalent Anorith! I've been on a couple trips to Mazon Creek, hoping to learn more about that area and local fossils as a whole. I spend most of my time with art and video games, but my collecting spirit is with me in all interests I don't have much in terms of fossils quite yet, unlike my hoard of Shiny Pokemon! Happy to be here and lurk the forum LOL

    New Member From Michigan

Hello! I’m from southeast Michigan but I’ve also collected in OH, PA, NJ, MD, and VA on a handful of trips. Another of which I’m going on in a week, down to NJ and MD with lots of stops in PA, back to a few spots I’ve been before, with some new ones along the way. I’m currently in my third year as a dual environmental science and geology undergrad, and hoping to go further in my education towards paleontology. I’m not currently in any of my local clubs, I do plan to join some after my trip, but I am a member of the AIPG chapter at my university. I’m looking forward to meeting new people with a similar passion and I will appreciate the help with identification. And if there’s any fellow local fossil hunters give me a shout.
  18. Hi people, First of all, I love everything related to fossils and the fact of collecting them. I got these three Trilobite fossils from a reputable seller some time ago and I want to know if they're real or not. They presents cracks on the matrix that extends to the fossil I think. Here are some photos: Fossil 1: Fossil 2: Fossil 3: Thanks for your time and I hope you have a great week!

    Hello from Chicago

Hey everyone, I'm new here. I've had a love for dinosaurs and fossils for decades but my son has really pushed my desire to learn more and build a nice, small collection for the 2 of us to enjoy. Hi from Spain

Hello everyone. I am English living and working in SE Spain for the last 17 years. My Wife and I enjoy walking the mountain paths and the beach. Until recently our interest has been interesting shells, marinelife and minerals. We were fortunate on one of our outings to find a fossil and this has become our number one priority now. As will become patently clear, the current lack of knowledge is hopefully becoming minimised by research in print and internet. Hopefully this forum will help us immensely.

    Greetings From Colorado

Hello just introducing myself. This is Alec from Denver I’m just a collector of pretty much all fossils. The last few years I have been collecting mostly fossils from Morocco. I have always been a lurker here and all the information here has been very helpful. I decided to start posting in the hopes to learn even more and hopefully even be able to contribute to new discoveries. Here are just a few examples in my collection.
  25. Hello Everyone! I am a college student and I have been a huge collector of fossils since as long as I can remember. I used to want to be a geologist! I have always wanted to discuss my collection with others and see others people's fossils, so I was very happy when I stumbled across this forum. I have a lot of different fossils in my collection, but I particularly love megalodon teeth, of which I have many! Can't wait to see other members collections, and share some pictures of my own! To start, I have attached a picture of my megalodon teeth to this post (though it is not the best quality since it was taken using my phone). I would love to hear your thoughts! Thanks!
