Hi. I am about to get this tooth delivered and I showed an image to a fellow member of the forum, and they recommended I put it here, as they felt something was off.

Hey guys! While on vacation my brother nephew and I wondered into a fossil shop and I helped them pick out a nice tooth and jaw from a mosasaur which I identified as Mosasaurus beaugei. My question is, is it a composite or a partial jaw with tooth? I'm leaning towards composite, but I wanted a second opinion. Don't worry about my nephew, he's aware it might be a composite and is THRILLED with it either way and it wasn't expensive. Quarter is for scale. Thanks!

Hi everyone! I'm hoping for a second opinion on this Mosasaur jaw. The parts look real to me, my question is did they all come from the same jaw. The jaw is 65 cm, so a pretty decent size. What do you all think? is it a composite? Any insight is appreciated as always!

Hi everyone! I acquired this jaw a few months ago and IDed it as coming from a large Canid. My question is can it be identified further and is there any funny business. Specifically with the Canine which is a different color than the other teeth. I tested the bone in multiple places so I know it's authentic, I'm just wondering if the Canine was found individually and inserted. The placement of a little bit of putty in the socket with the canine doesn't help my suspicions. As for the ID I figure Grey Wolf is the most likely but I'm not to experienced with canid material and was hoping for a second opinion to rule out something like a really big coyote (or rule in something really special like Dire Wolf). The Jaw is from Siberia and measures 18.13 cm long. Let me know if there's any other pics or measurements I can provide and any insight is appreciated as always!

Hi everyone! I have my eye on what looks like a nice Spinosaur claw from the kem kem, or at least that what the seller claims it is. It does seem to have that round divot under the base of the proximal end that I've seen described as telltale, but you can never be to careful with kem kem claws which might just be the most outright faked fossil on the market so I figured I'd ask for an independent opinion on the potential of funny business (besides what looks to be one or two repaired breaks near the tip). Measurements given are 8.5 x 3 cm. Any insight is appreciated as always!

Was doing some cleaning yesterday and rediscovered this lil guy, totally forgot I even had em! I think I got him about 5 years at a local antique fair, so no clue where it came from or if it's even real... Always eager to learn more!

Hello all! I'm new to the fossil game and I'm considering buying my first tooth but after doing some light research, I'm not sure if the tooth I am looking to buy is 100% from the same tooth... So, according to the seller, this is a 6.5" Spinosaurus tooth (from Kem Kem, Morocco) and they have said that some repair has been done... They've glued 2 areas of the tooth (they haven’t specifically stated which area is) and also mentioned that they've repaired some of the enamel. From the pictures, I guess that it is the very end of the tooth where the enamel has been repaired, to possibly repair some 'feeding wear' (as I have learned that it is called!?) But after doing a bit of research, I am worried that this is not 100% from the same tooth (since I've discovered that these teeth are not usually found this large and people occasionally glue multiple teeth together to create a huge tooth, and not be 100% honest about what they've done). I have these worries because of the area about halfway up the root where the colour becomes a little bit darker and there seems to even be a little ridge between the two halves... I'm not fussed if this tooth has been restored in some way (glued etc) but I basically am just after some of your thoughts and opinions on whether you think this is ALL from the same tooth and not some kind of fake frankentooth!? Thanks for any help/expertise you can give :)

Hello, I came across this listing for a Australiceras/Proaustraliceras ammonite from the Cretaceous Volga River of Russia, about 12 inches long. In terms of restoration, it is just said to be "cleaned, prepped and stabilized". To my amateur eye, there are no suspicious spots or abrupt changes in texture that would indicate reconstruction/restoration or compositing, and I think the matrix also looks typical of the region. What do you think? Any tampering going on or is it all-natural? Thanks. EDIT: I actually noticed there is some change in texture in this part. Not sure if it's shell loss or possible reconstruction, I might ask for more photos

Hello, new member here. I just purchased this heteromorph ammonite from what's considered a reputable website but I've started to get concerned on the authenticity of this specimen due to the heterogeneous coloration (some places dark, some places light). Is there a chance there's some fake pieces as a composite or perhaps heavy restoration? Also it was listed as eubostrychoceras indopacificum, but it looks different from photos of other such specimens. It seems more like a Nostoceras malagasyense, but perhaps I'm just mistaken?
