  1. REMINDER: PLEASE carefully read ALL of the rules below. Make sure you include all the required information, IN THE REQUESTED FORMAT (below) when you submit your fossil! If you have a question about a possible entry, please send me a PM. Please pay special attention to Rule #5: Before and After Preparation Photos must be submitted for prepped specimens NOT found during the Month of the Contest. In addition to keeping the contest fair, this new qualification will encourage better documentation of our spectacular past finds. Entries will be taken until 11:59:00 PM EDT on FEBRUARY 29, 2020 Any fossil submitted after that time, even if the topic is still open, will be deemed ineligible! Only entries posted with CLEAR photos and that meet the other guidelines will be placed into the Poll. Photos of the winning specimens may be posted to TFF's Facebook page. Please let us know if you have any questions, and thanks for sharing more of your fossils and research this month. Shortly after the end of the Month, separate Polls will be created for the Vertebrate and Invertebrate/Plant Find of the Month. In addition to the fun of a contest, we also want to learn more about the fossils. Tell us more about your fossil, and why you think it is worthy of the honor. 20. The end of the 2010's are rapidly approaching. The first FOTY was held in 2010, nearly 10 years ago now. With the 2020's nearly upon us, we have almost 10 exquisite winners of FOTY in each category of the contest. The question now: Will there be a decade contest? Such a decision would probably be the hardest we Fossilers will ever make if it does turn out to be something in 2020. It would probably be the most competitive contest the forum has ever seen, and would be very exciting to see. Will it happen?

  22. March is coming in like a Lion, for some of us in the Northeastern US. The pounding rain insures we won't be fossil-hunting for a few days, at the very least! But others around the country or world can get out there and make some fantastic finds. 24. A new year is upon us! While many of us suffer the wrath of winter, others are lucky enough to enjoy more seasonable collecting weather. Those who are able to hunt should get out there and get to it! Those who can hunt the spoil piles of their workshops should do so. Those micro fossil matrices that are in the back of the garage should be brought out to the light, and get gone through. No matter how you come about it, it is time once again to enter your submissions for Fossil of the Month, for January, 2018! ************************************************************************* Remember...PLEASE carefully read all of the rules below, ... make sure you include all the required information, in the requested format, and submit your fossil! 25. Snow has started in some northern climes, effectively putting an end to 2017's fossil hunting season for some. Others in more southerly climes are getting back into the swing of things after a long rainy season with limited hunting opportunites. The change in weather means a transition to preparation for some. So whether you are hunting now, or preparing now, if you find something amazing, enter it into the December Fossil of the Month Contest. *************************************************** Remember...PLEASE carefully read the rules below, ... make sure you include all the required information, and submit your fossil!
