Hi guys, I normally collect only bones but in the layers where I collect them, coprolites are also often abundant. But mostly they are not very well preserved so I don't take them with me. This one is the best one I found so far and I wonder if it might be possible to find out which animal "produced" it It comes from the so called "Grenzbonebed", which is a triassic layer between Muschelkalk and Keuper. Its approximately 4 cm long. It would be great if someone can help here. Maybe @GeschWhat? My personal guess would be that it comes from a fish (maybe shark)... Thanks and stay healthy!

Since I couldn't go out to dig for fossils, I decided to go on a micro dig. Today's dig was in a coprolite fragment from the Oligocene. Prior to excavation, the broken face of the coprolite looked like this. You can see a little bit of bone peeking through. After about an hour of excavation under 40X magnification, I uncovered what I think is a rodent tooth and possibly a toe bone and claw??? What do you think? Does anyone out there know their Rupelian rodents? Grinding Surface of the tooth: Side view showing roots: Small toe bone and claw or an fractured toe/foot bone? Is fossil poop cool or what???

Hello all This summer I found this coprolite in the Odra quarry in Poland. I found around 6 of these but nothing else. The other members of the group found shark teeth and some other stuff. Mosasaur remains are also found there, but extremely rare. I know it's hard to assign coprolites to kind of animal, but is this what a shark coprolite would look like? Around 1 cm.

Everything was pretty well picked over in my regular spots so I took a thirteen mile eleven hour hike with a friend at the North Sulphur River Texas. Here's my finds. The mosaaur tooth, fish fin with verts, fish occipital condyle and the big Tylosaur vert made my day. The water moccasins were mating and did not appreciate us walking by. They both took the time to open their mouths and warn us to get away.

Hi everybody! These two are my second and third fossil collected in the wild, I'm 94% sure they are both coprolite......what kind? That's where my assuredness plummets. Both were found on the south side of the Isle of Wight on the beach at Brook Bay. I was there in late November of last year and did nighttime search using a UV flashlight. There were some brutal gale force winds, so I was only able to muster enough manliness for 20 minutes on the beach, I made a few discoveries, but these two are choice. I located the lighter coloured one because of uneven fluorescence and located a surface bone fragment, and the dark one because of it's deep purpl-ish glow and unique shape. The lighter one I believe is a crocodylian coprolite, the other I'm sure is coprolite but have no idea if it's from a mammal, dino or something else. Any shared wisdom would be greatly appreciated. I Found that stone several years ago . I failed to identify it . recently I thought it could be coprolite . I hope you can help me identifying it . Many thanks .
