In my favorite creek with water levels so low there is a facinating little stretch exposed that is unlike any other part of the creek I've seen. There's about 100 ft of this grey marl in lower bank going into water, it's gritty, some still soft some like cement, loaded with gastropods, bivalves, and coalified wood. Running through it are the biggest calcite veins I've ever seen, some 10-15 ft long and almost pink, have no idea how far down they go. I was barely able to break a section off, this is part of one the smaller veins. Wondering if anyone has seen something similar. The other odd p

Hi there. I was hoping to pick some smart brains. I found this fossil rock today in North Georgia. Near Cartersville, in Bartow County. There seems to be fossils on both the front and back side of the rock. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for taking a look.

Help with ID on small tube-like fossils or geological items from creek

Hi all, I hope someone can help me ID these items I've been finding for about a year now in and by a local creek in Sullivan County, TN. I've shown them to staff at the Nature Center of a nearby park and to various others who have an interest in such things, and no one has been able to say for sure what they are. I've had theories from corals to beads to stalactites (helictites, actually) to burrow casts. All are tube-like, all have holes through them (a few have one end closed, but not many) some have a bumpy, pebbly surface and some are smooth. The biggest is 1 1/2 to 2 inch
