I’m not really sure I’ll be to get an ID given the condition, size and difficulty in photographing them but I thought I’d try. First tooth. Just over 1mm. This one is from Atco Formation micro mix. There was an Odontaspis on Elasmo that looked somewhat similar but I really don’t know.

I have a few unknowns from the Cenomanian of Russia that I am starting to get around to photographing and identifying. I am practicing with my actual camera instead of my phone so the pics are just ok but will get better lol The first one is from near Fedoravka Tambov Region of Russia. This one is about 13 mm or so. I think the ID when purchased was Cretoxyrhina but I do not know how accurate that is. I thought perhaps Cretalamna or maybe Dwardius or something completely different. I just do not know. It is a really striking tooth though and I would like to get some idea of what it is.

Pseudomegachasma and a few other Melovatka Formation shark teeth
fossilsonwheels posted a topic in Fossil ID
I recently acquired quite a few teeth from the Saratov region of Russia. Melovatka Formation. I have a few that I can use some ID help with. I will work on getting better pics but for now this is what I have. This is a formation from which Pseudomegachasma teeth were described and I believe I may have found 1-3 teeth that fit for that species. I spent a great deal of time under the scope with these teeth and comparing them to those described. I will eventually send pictures to Dr. Shimada when I have better quality pics. The teeth are all 4-5 mm. The first tooth is the one that I am really secure in my ID but I am no expert.- 3 replies

I’ve been working on getting all of our shark teeth properly identified so I went back to a few teeth from the Demopolis Formation. These are from the Frankstown location in Mississippi. The first one up is right around 1” and the little cusps are what initially confused me. Is this a Cretoxyrhina perhaps? I found some images of Cretoxyrhina with cusps that looked similar.

We got a lot of 20 shark teeth from the Demopolis Formation, Frankstown location I believe. I basically separated them by those I think are Goblin teeth and those that I think are not lol Pic 1 I believe these are Scapanorhynchus teeth. Pic 2 and 3. My best guess on this one is Paranomotodon. I am very unsure of that ID.

Finally ... a discussion of fossil sharks from Morocco and transitional teeth.
Northern Sharks posted a topic in Member Collections
Santa came early here in the north country. I've been after one of these for a while and I finally got one in the mail today. It's an early, transitional form, Palaeocarcharodon orientalis. Very coarse serrations near the root fading to almost smooth at the tip. One root tip was glued back on as these teeth are very prone to damage, but I can ignore that because it's almost 2 inches long, and they don't get much bigger than that.- 156 replies
