After my most recent field trip where there were at least three other TFF members present, but I didn't know it until afterwards, I wanted to be a bit more proactive for an upcoming trip. Last Fall, my wife and I made our first visit to Penn Dixie and had a great time. It was a very nice day and it was a weekday after the regular season so we were the only people in the quarry for most of the day. The only downside was that the pit and the most trilobite rich rocks were under water. My luck, less than a week after we were there, the society newsletter said they had just pumped out the pit!

I know some TFF members will be at Penn Dixie for the "dig with the experts" weekend coming up. I'll be there with my oldest on Saturday and the other two kids will catch up with us on Sunday. Who else will be there? https://penndixie.org/dig-with-the-experts/

Credit to @JamesAndTheFossilPeach for the find of the day with a giant Eldredgeops (pic below). Saturday and Sunday were spent looking for trilobites in the roped off Dig With the Experts section of excavated shale with some success. Monday I drove back to Boston, and s

Yep! This is a few months late, but I figure better late than never! I had to retake and resize these photos today. So here they are. I arrived in town Thursday so that I could rest(11 hour drive) and hit a few places before the dig on Saturday. I hunted Friday at a spot I was told about last time I was in the area but, the weather and other issues did not allow it at the time. This site was beautiful with shale walls here and there with large concretions protruding out. I was told the concretions are where the complete trilobites were, but were extremely hard. Well, this was an understate
