Is this fake oviraptor egg?
Rrunning posted a topic in Is It Real? How to Recognize Fossil Fabrications
I am not experienced in this at all and just looking for a quick opinion. There is an engraved date on bottom(1947) , would that mean it’s manufactured or do collectors date eggs when discovered? Thanks! -
Hi all, observed a few fossils in Horsethief Canyon on a hike the other day, not sure what they are. One looks like a long bone, and the other maybe a squished skull with some other bones mashed in? Using my technically advanced shoe as a reference, long bone was maybe 25cm long, 10cm at widest, "skull" was maybe 25cm across at widest point. I know its hard to tell, but I'm new so not sure what layer I was in, but my watch said ~730m elevation if that means anything to anyone for the locality. A couple photos of two fossilized stumps and a shot of the Canyon for a bonus. Was a super fun day hi

Found this in the Coleraine formation of northern Minnesota, it appears to be bone, possibly a part of an arm or leg, any guesses to what it may be? (I’ve already contacted a paleontologist but I thought I’d ask here, too. Also any tips of removing iron off of fossils? Many of the fossils here are within iron stones and i don’t know how to safely remove most of it.)

While on vacation in Utah USA, a family member bought some fossils in a shop that were supposed to be dinosaur bone. Unfortunately, she has not received any further information with the documents. I got them and would like to know if the story is true. Is there anything more to say about these pieces? They go to a primary school when it comes to dino material so any bit of information would be nice for the kids. Scale in centimeters. Bone? 1

Hi everyone, I have a black tooth fossil that needs identifying
Rocky998 posted a topic in Fossil ID
So, about 4-5 years back I was at Aurora NC and they have a fossil dig there that is made up of gravel and dirt from a phosphate mine that regularly finds huge megladon teeth and other ocean fossils. When I found it, there were two men who were helping me identify sharks teeth and other fossils... As soon as he saw it he asked if he could hold it and then said he was jealous and he had seen nothing like that before... Now, 4-5 years later, I had it sitting in a glass frame and I looked at it one day and went, "what the heck are you". Then I asked about it on a general thread section on an aqua -
Hello, Could I get some help identifying this gembone piece? Seller listed it as "gembone dino" with no other info. Dimensions are roughly 5cm cross section, 7cm long. I realize this may be difficult to ID exactly, so perhaps even just an assessment of authenticity as a dinosaur gembone would be helpful. Thanks!

I am in Eastern Colin county towards I30 I saw these sitting on the topsoil and have uncovered them like you see. They've been sheared by excavation but are all connected by some sort of fibrous material resembling tar. To lift one moves the whole section. Attached is a picture of the gooey stuff I peeled off. Its drying out rapidly. Any thoughts?

When looking on a muddy day in the maryland late cretaceous marine site. Found a small 2 inches 5-6 cm long bone. all help will be appreciated. I am not sure what bone it is, let alone what species. Like most bone from this site the surface texture is in general rough.

Hi everybody! These two are my second and third fossil collected in the wild, I'm 94% sure they are both coprolite......what kind? That's where my assuredness plummets. Both were found on the south side of the Isle of Wight on the beach at Brook Bay. I was there in late November of last year and did nighttime search using a UV flashlight. There were some brutal gale force winds, so I was only able to muster enough manliness for 20 minutes on the beach, I made a few discoveries, but these two are choice. I located the lighter coloured one because of uneven fluorescence and located a surfa

I have had this piece just sitting in a drawer for a long time and I believe that I bought it for $1.00 from a guy that I use to get some Oligocene White River stuff from in Scenic, South Dakota. This piece looks nothing like anything that I have ever found in the White River Badlands, and believe he got it from somewhere farther North in South Dakota. Looking at it, it looks dinosaurian and am wondering what others think? @Troodon Thanks
