    Can You Help Me ID?

I was agate hunting in Crescent City, CA, at Pebble Beach. I found this tooth. I've been an avid "fossiler" for decades. My usual places are Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, and the Peace River in Florida. I've found numerous types of teeth, Glyptodont scutes, etc. This is my first find in CA. I can't identify the tooth. Seal? Dolphin? Human? I am curious if the root has been agatized to some degree. Any help in identifying what animal this tooth came from is greatly appreciated.

    Another Jaw Specimen?

Another find from the Peace River last week that I have been trying to identify and could use some help with. When I first pulled this up out of the water I thought of some kind of broken limb bone. I then noticed the groove and socket that made it look like a piece of a jaw. I tried searches for alligator and various land mammals and ruled out most of what I found. The search did point me toward this being a maxilla, the upper jaw. More searching led me to a picture of a dolphin skull that looked to support the maxilla idea but appeared a bit too small. So, input from the group would be appreciated. Measurements: 7 1/4" x 1 1/8" x 2 7/8" or 175mm x 26mm x 88mm My search led to this example of a Dolphin skull with what I think drives the idea that this is a maxilla. The labeled areas that are underlined seem to correspond to the areas I have numbered on my specimen shown below So, while I am leaning toward this being a maxilla I am wondering, if it is, could it be dolphin or something similar?

    Calvert Cliffs Flipper Bone?

Last weekend, I went down to Calvert Cliffs state Park in Maryland to go fossil hunting for a bit. While looking through my finds, I noticed that this bone seemed to be mostly intact, and wondered if it could be a bone from the flipper of some kind of dolphin? Maybe one of these bones? Thanks for any answers, and sorry for the bad quality photos.

    Latest Ear Bone Query

Seems like I can't go a day without picking up an ear bone or two this season. On Friday three turned up. One I positively identified as dolphin periotic, one as horse and the last one is in question. I believe it is cetacean and have looked at those posted by @Boesse in his very informative blog The Coastal Paleontologist. That gave me some suspicions that it may be a partial from either Physeteridae or Ziphiidae 2. And, of course, I could be way off in my idea of what it could be. I also reviewed numerous postings by @Shellseeker along with several of @Harry Pristis informative image postings and think I can pretty much eliminate land mammal. There is an obvious break on one end that interestingly allows a view all the way through the specimen. I tried to capture pictures from all sides, including pictures to show the channels that pass through. Measurements: 43mm x 31mm x 27mm
  5. I acquired a collection of fossils in Florida. About half were labeled but the rest were not. These five fossils were in a box with a Fossil labeled Polished Whale Tooth Miocene Cooper River SC and one labeled Fossil Dolphin Tooth Venice Florida. I am guessing 1, 2 and 3 are whale tooth fossils and 4 is from a dolphin. I have no idea what animal 5 is from but am guessing it’s a claw. The back of 2 has metal protrusions with glued paper around them and I am guessing was part of an old display. Any help identifying these is greatly greatly appreciated.

    Cetecean Vertabrae?

I found this vertabrae at the beach of Fort Clinch on Amelia Island Florida, which sits at the delta of the St. Mary's and Amelia Rivers in that area. My initial thought was perhaps dolphin/porpoise that was worn down. Can anyone offer some insight into the possible origin of this specimen?
  7. Got these in a lot from Florida. The first one looks to me like it could be a dolphin tooth. The second one seems like a tooth, but it is broader than the first.

    Dolphin/whale - other?

Posted some shots of these finds over a week ago. Some folks asked for better pictures and I finally have them. My first idea was dolphin on the first one, but the glossy surface had me doubting that ID. On the second, it is quite worn and I was guessing it could be a whale tooth. So, the question is, are they dolphin, whale, neither? Any input would be appreciated.

    Fossil ear plates?

I found these ear plates near my home in North Myrtle Beach. They are each about a 1/2" long. What they are from? Dolphin or Porpoise? Please help! Thanks! Also how do you make fossils stay in place in these little display boxes?
