Got to Douglas Point early today and was the first on the beach. Came across a heartbreaking large Otodus root that gave me some hope, soon after I find a large whole one! After a bit more surface collecting I ended up with a few nice sand tigers (one of my largest), three whole Otodus Obliquus and the heartbreaking root, and the icing on the cake two beautiful croc teeth!

One of my boys found this item while we were hunting at Douglas Point on the Potomac today. I think it could be a coprolite, maybe from a croc, but I am not experienced enough to know. Can anybody say yeah or nay?

I always find a lot of these when looking for small shark teeth at Douglas Point, MD. I’m guessing they are fish teeth. If not, might toss them.

Had to take a day off from work to take advantage of a day without rain. There were mushrooms all over the forest. Some finds would have been better if not broken.

Spent the morning hunting. The water level was ridiculously high. A little friendly green snake was on the trail.

Just decided to look at some of my small shark teeth (5 mm and less) from Douglas Point, since I can’t go hunting for awhile.

I wanted to go to Flag Pond to search for teeth, it was closed. Then Matoaka, it was closed. Had to settle for Douglas Point, MD for just a few hours. Not too great there, the water was really high.

Decided to go to Douglas Point to get my daughter out of the house even though I knew it would be muddy and the water would be high.

Made my second trip back to Douglas Point on Wednesday. The weather was sunny and a little over 60 degrees. It was a perfect 3+ hours of sifting and surface searching. I had the entire beach to myself. The only negative to the day was the 4 hour ride home. Usually takes me 3 hours. I was hoping to find my first croc tooth but I will not complain since I found a nice otodus. Otodus Obliquus

I gave the chimera fin spine that I found at Douglas Point to the Calvert Marine Museum. They had mouth pieces and a cephalic hook, but no fin spine. I haven’t checked out the museum in years. It has a very nice fossil exhibit.

I found this tooth at Douglas Point on a hunt about a year and a half ago. I took it out tonight and the more I look at it I am wondering if it is a small baby Otodus? If not what else do you guys think it could be? It measures 13 mm wide and 15 mm slant

I’ve been searching through some micro recently and I found this little (about 1 cm) tooth. If someone were to show it to me I’d say it could be a lemon or maybe a carcharhinus lower. Of course if that’s what it were I wouldn’t be posting it here. The catch: this is from the Late Paleocene Aquia Formation. Am I just missing something incredibly obvious or what? I’ve never heard of a Paleocene carcharhinus or negaprion. Any thoughts?

Hello! I have been spending some time at Purse Point & Douglas Point on the Potomac River this summer. I have found a few oddballs that I will post later. I would love to meet up with some other local fossil hunters. I look forward to talking to everyone.

Went on a hunt to add to my collection, as well as to gather trading material. Hunted about 2 hours and found more shark teeth than my attention span will allow me to count (I stoped counting at 40) only a few otodus and cretolamnas, one possible well worn croc, some bone pieces, and a ton of turritella internal molds. Only took one piece of lignite, lots in the banks (of course off limits). Tons of Ray teeth as always. No Paleocarcharodon or huge otoduses, but all in all a good trip. Here's the total haul:
