Hello everyone Below are some finds from my last trip to a dredge spoil island that has Miocene to modern marine and terrestrial fossils. The dredge and river action unfortunately beat up the fossils and make it hard to ID. The scale on the white graph paper is 1" for the boxes. Photo quality a little off due to the poor winter sun angle. Large Un-numbered Bone: Possibly a mammoth or bison femur? Weighs more than 3.5 pounds. It looks like the head of a femur and a heavily worn limb bone. May be too far gone to ID. #1: Two small mammal (likely cetacean) periotics #2: Edge of a Turtle shell? Just didn't see the typical interior turtle shell texture #3 Broken coprolites? Interesting interior compositions on them #4 Worn turtle nuchal shell? #5 Wild guess-fish tooth in jaw? Has a smooth enamel on the pointy end that tapers on both sides to a broken point #6 No idea-Probably unidentifiable? #7 Small broken horse scapula? Thanks for looking. Hopefully the photos stay in order, with an outdoors photo followed by another photo indoors due to the outdoor light this time of year. Be happy to add better photos if requested.

Hello everyone Thanks for looking. I found these yesterday at a Savannah River Dredge Spoil Island after fairly heavy rains and tides. Unfortunately the dredging and river action damages pretty much everything. Most of what is found is Pleistocene to Miocene. These have me stumped. The following are my guesses as to what the following 5 items are: #1 Camel or Horse Canine? Doesn't look like others that I've found or google image searches-Doesn't have a color/texture change from root to crown-Has a ridge on the back side and sharp edge at the end-Looks too symmetrical to be just phosphate #2 Fish Skull Plate? I've seen one of these before but it isn't a ray crushing plate or sea robin skull #3 1/2 of a Mammal Tooth-Doesn't look like a horse tooth from the chewing surface and doesn't have the angled crown of a tapir tooth-May not be able to ID as too fragmentary #4 Broken 1/2 of a Sloth Tooth-Had sea lettuce growing in it and is badly beaten up-Looks like other sloth teeth that I've found there before but has a little rougher interior structure than the others and is not quite as smooth on the exterior #5 Medium sized bone that looks vaguely jaw like-Thick and tapered to a narrower point-beaten up a little-No tooth sockets visible Any ID's or thoughts would be much appreciated Thanks a bunch

This and others like it were found on a dredge spoils beach on the Jekyll river on jekyll island, Georgia. Thank you for your help identifying this partial fossil. I presume it is a tooth, but I have been unable to find a reference for ID. I found four partial pieces similar to this, but the one in the photographs is most complete. There are two holes with a depression between them, and grooves on the outside edges on either side of the depression. Any help would be appreciated. Ruler represents inches.

Found never Savannah River in Georgia. Need help identifying please.

Unlikely fossil, but interesting I thought. Retrieved from Galveston Bay dredge spoils exposed during an unusually low tide a few nights ago. The furrows (the meningeal artery?) became evident only after cleaning. Its incomplete but I'm fairly confident its a left parietal bone. I should have a copy of Medical Examiner's report in a few weeks. Darrow
