    Early Jurassic plant for identification

Here is a recent plant fossil find from the Early Jurassic East Berlin Formation in Hartford County, Connecticut, USA. I gently rinsed the fossil a couple of times thinking it may be a fern-like "false fossil". But from what I could tell at this moment, it may be legit, especially since part of the fossil is overlayed with sediment. Comments, or a possible identification would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

    Early Jurassic leaf for identification

Here is a recent plant fossil find from the Early Jurassic East Berlin Formation in Hartford County, Connecticut, USA. Comments, or a possible identification would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
  5. Hello everyone, I found this forum While searching for locations for fossil hunting. I would be very thankful if any local fossil hunters could share some locations for a beginner. I’ve always been interested in fossils and geology and I’d like to make a fun hobby with it if possible. Thank you!!!!! reply to this post or shoot me a private email!!!!! Please thanks again!!!
  6. Here are a few recent plant finds from the Early Jurassic East Berlin Formation in Hartford County, Connecticut, USA. Possible plant ID's include a Pine Cone (almost three-dimensional!), Pine Seed, Brachyphyllum/Pagiophyllum, Equisetum. Comments, identifications, or corrections are greatly appreciated. Thank you!
  7. Here are a few recent plant finds from the Early Jurassic East Berlin Formation in Hartford County, Connecticut, USA. Possible plant ID's include a possible Selaginella (club moss), Brachyphyllum/Pagiophyllum, Equisetum w/strobilus detached (?). Comments, identifications, or corrections are greatly appreciated. Thank you!
  8. I'm not sure if I'm looking at a true fossil, or is this an impression of a modern day plant. As I often do, I washed the fossil down with warm water three times with the hope that if it was a modern imprint, it would partially, or completely fade away. Since it didn't fade one bit, I would like to please ask if these plant impressions are indeed legit fossils, or a stubborn modern day imprint. Early Jurassic, East Berlin Formation of Connecticut, USA. Thank you!
  9. Here are a few recent plant finds from the Early Jurassic East Berlin Formation in Hartford County, Connecticut. Possible plant ID's include Brachyphyllum/Pagiophyllum, Loperia simplex, possible leaf?? (circled red), Equisetum, Cheirolepidaceae. Comments, identifications, or corrections are greatly appreciated.
  10. Here are a few recent plant finds from the Early Jurassic East Berlin Formation in Hartford County, Connecticut. Possible plant ID's include Brachyphyllum/Pagiophyllum, Loperia simplex, Otozamites brevifolis. The most interesting fossil plate includes a marking that features three filamentous strands on one end, and a minute spore/seed head on the other. Comments, identifications, or corrections are greatly appreciated. Thank you!
  11. The first time I found this type of triangular marking I thought it was a broken off tip of a much larger plant fossil. Five specimens later (all identical in size and shape including straight-edged base) and I'm now starting to think that this might be a possible pinnae to some sort of cycadophyte. Illustration from the book Introduction to Plant Fossils; Cleal and Thomas. Early Jurassic, East Berlin Formation of Connecticut. Thoughts and comments would be greatly appreciated.
  12. I found this interesting plate this morning, not sure what the two (circled) objects are, but they look like possible conifer cones, including what looks like a stem on the top cone-like marking. Early Jurassic, East Berlin Formation in Connecticut. Comments would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
  13. Here are a few recent finds (all plant fragments I believe) from the Early Jurassic East Berlin Formation in Hartford County, Connecticut. Possible plant ID's include Brachyphyllum, Loperia simplex, and Equisetum. Comments, identifications, or corrections are greatly appreciated. Thank you!
  14. Here are a few fossil plant fragments from the Early Jurassic, East Berlin Formation in Connecticut. I included two photos from the book; Introduction to Plant Fossils (2nd edition, Cleal and Thomas).
  15. Here are a few recent plant finds from the Early Jurassic, East Berlin Formation in Connecticut. The first image however is a trace fossil identified (by an expert in traces) as Helminthoidichites and Treptichnus. Comments/correction/identification on the plant fragments would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
  16. Here are a few recent finds from the Early Jurassic, East Berlin Formation in Connecticut. Comments/corrections are greatly appreciated. The first image I believe is Brachyphyllum.
  17. Here are a few recent fossil finds from the Early Jurassic East Berlin Formation in Connecticut. Comments, corrections or identification would be greatly appreciated. I believe the first image is a conifer pollen cone.
  18. A few finds from last week that may be Brachyphyllum. Comments/corrections would be greatly appreciated. Early Jurassic East Berlin Formation in Connecticut. All fossil pieces, except the the first one, are about the size of a US Quarter.

    Jurassic Trace Fossil

I'm still going through some of the rock that I collected from a road cut of the Early Jurassic East Berlin Formation (200 mya) in Connecticut. This caught my eye this afternoon, maybe a leaf?? It looks like a leaf from my ginkgo bonsai that I have sitting on my desk! Maybe its nothing. Thoughts and comments are greatly appreciated! Fossil is part and counterpart.

    Jurassic Trace Fossil

Here is one more fossil plate (same location as previous post) that I found the other day along a road cut of the Early Jurassic East Berlin Formation (200 mya) in Connecticut. Maybe a horsetail and strobilus (bottom right corner)?? I don't know what the halo around the vertical lines are about. Thoughts and comments are again greatly appreciated. Thank you.

    Jurassic Trace Fossil

I found this fossil plate two days ago along a road cut of the Early Jurassic East Berlin Formation (200 mya) in Connecticut. I'm not sure what these trace fossils might be, maybe bivalves?? Thoughts and comments would be greatly appreciated Thank you.

    Jurassic Trace Fossil

I found this fossil plate last weekend along a road cut of the Early Jurassic East Berlin Formation (200 mya) in Connecticut. A similar image posted to this forum hints that these tadpole-shaped trace fossils may be bivalves. I have in the past found invertebrate tunnels at this same location, but these certainly do not look the same. Some of the trace fossils overlap, which makes me think that they could be something else. Could they be fish larvae?? Thoughts and comments would be greatly appreciated Thank you.
