Hi everyone, I was out walking today in Lincoln County, Idaho. While I was walking, I decided to take a look at rocks. All the sudden, I saw this one. I picked it up, and noticed it was EXTREMELY smooth. It is also egg shaped. There is also a small chip in it. It also has a slightly reflective surface, when I put it under a magnifier, some of the light from the magnifier was reflecting off of this rock. You can actually see it in some of the photos. I thought to myself, “Is this a fossil egg?“ To be honest, I am VERY skeptical if it is truly a fossil egg. Regardless, I decided to post anyway and see what you guys think of it. Hi Many years ago I found this strange eggshaped stone. Is it a fossil egg? It is quite heavy, rusty brown color egg shape object. The whole "egg" is covered with something like veins. The biggest one goes around vertical. It is circa 6 cm long and 5 in diameter. Thanks for your help

Good afternoon, This egg shaped rock was found on the surface of a reclaimed quarry in Alberta. Any thoughts on what it may be? Considering it was found at a gravel quarry my initial thoughts were that it was a rock that was somehow shaped during excavation and or screening. The colours and the jagged eggshell type patterns have me wondering though...? Apologies for the imperial measurements for scale. For reference the egg is approximately 90 mm (9cm) in length. Thanks for the help.

Hello everyone, I have been looking at a pair of eggs on matrix. I believe they are real and good, they should be 'Oviraptor?' or perhaps another species , perhaps someone can help out. but just to be sure I want to post them here and perhaps get some opinions . I do lapidary, and cut a lot of rocks. I bought this one, and eventually cut it in half. I assume it was a concretion or a solid geode of sorts. Still interesting so I will send you a few photos. Thank You David

Hello, My fiancé and I were hunting for meteorite fragments and found this very unique 'artifact' at her family ranch in Starr County, Texas. I have no idea what it is and want help identifying it. A very uneducated guess is that it may be a dinosaur egg with ancient carvings - total guess. The lines around the 'eye' are raised.. not carved in. Apologies if I am using incorrect terminology. I just want help in my quest to identify it. There were quite a few arrowheads found near this 'artifact' as well. Any ideas or suggestions welcome in helping identify this! Thank you

At an auction, a family member purchased about 20 specimens that are similar to these two. All are circular, flattened to various degrees, some complete, some broken. The only information given was that they are dinosaur coprolite. I don't think so, since it doesn't look like any dino doo-doo I've ever seen. At first I thought they were just geodes, and they might be, but then I saw this: https://www.geologyin.com/.../rock-containing-stunning... So now I'm wondering if they might be squashed dino eggs? On the one photo, the arrows indicate what I think might be shell.

I purchased this Dinosaur egg and now I want to prep it a little. I don't have an airscribe, is there another way to remove the thin layer of matrix without damaging the eggshell or shell structure?

Would like to know if this is a real dinosaur egg, considering all the fakes that are out there. Described as either a Hadrosaurus or Therizinosaurus egg from China. Diameter 10 cm (3.94 inches)

Live in IA, found in river rock at a Dollar General. Looked like small fossilized potato. After examining it, , I put it in vinegar and water to clean and something started to appear. So I stopped, didn't want to damage what was inside or take off the remaining shell. I do know that river rock is shipped from NW states and Canada. Questions are, what type of egg? And is it a body fossil with embryo? 2 1/2 inches (L) × 1 1/2 inches (lg end) and 1 inch (small end) (W), 4 inches circumference.

I was referred to this page by fossil sites on Facebook. All I know about fossils, is, it's never an egg.. but quite a few folks thought this could be an egg. Found in western Arizona in a dry part of the desert, but near a series of washes where water flow occasional moves things around. 5cm x 3.5cm

Hello, Fellow Fossil Enthusiasts! I'm hoping that someone here might be able to help me in identifying these fossils, because I have hundreds of them in various stages of development, and in all of my research I have yet to find anything that remotely resembles what I've got! That is, until I found this forum - I've seen a few fossils identified here that were the very first that closely resembled what I've found, so my hope has been renewed that someone out there can help me out. I look forward to what new information might come my way! Scott
