Found this round rock amongst other fossil rocks, but it was so round that it stood out to me. I was hoping to cut it open and find it was a geode. At first I made one small cut and could see that the inside was chalk-like, so I tossed it to the side and wasnt going to bother with it anymore. But I noticed the very center was a different color. It looked pink, so I knocked out one quarter of the thick outer layer of that chalky stuff, and then some more, and this is what was inside. Does anybody else think this could be an egg with a baby dinosaur inside?

Hi all! New here and I’ve already spent hours down the rabbit hole. I’m a body piercer and jewelry professional but I love rockhounding. I live in Arkansas and we are know for our quartz. I collect rocks literally everywhere I go so I can’t say for certain where I picked this up. I put it in my tumbler with a load and I check the rocks often during the process. This was in the tumbler with first stage grit for about 2 days. When I was doing my routine check, this rock really stuck out to me. I swear I see a bird embryo. Not only that but it feels 3 dimensionally like a bird body. I know the pareidolia is real with my brain but I’m kind of obsessing at this point so I need someone to bust my bubble.

Live in IA, found in river rock at a Dollar General. Looked like small fossilized potato. After examining it, , I put it in vinegar and water to clean and something started to appear. So I stopped, didn't want to damage what was inside or take off the remaining shell. I do know that river rock is shipped from NW states and Canada. Questions are, what type of egg? And is it a body fossil with embryo? 2 1/2 inches (L) × 1 1/2 inches (lg end) and 1 inch (small end) (W), 4 inches circumference.

I am curious what exactly this is...and how well intact comparatively, if there are relative comparisons. I'm assuming it is an embryo, maybe T-Rex? I like green rocks, and usually grab them, that's how I came about it.

I see a vertical pupil raptor eye and embryo in the egg shaped, smooth rock. I was looking for geodes, I found this tiny geode, broke it open at home, and the other half broke into pieces - 3 or 4 crumbly. I did this 17 years ago. Now, I have joined a lapidary group, ALMS Alabama, and been to a meeting, and I have had this on my shelf for 17 years. I was thinking it is an ugly geode nodule? But then, yesterday I thought, it looks like an egg, it's insides are multicolored like a fossilized egg? I then go my magnifying glass and I can see an eye, and 3 part skull with divisions lines, and the raptor evil eye. I can see a jawbone and mandible seperation, skull sutures seperation, eye, and back bone has these protrusions, humps that have 3 dots on them, like a stegasaurus? But very small, see image. Dime coin is in image. It has a dimple perfect on the outside end of the egg and smooth uniform surface. Also, appears to be a snout and mouth and body, tail, and possibly wing bones, similar to a velociraptor? Can you tell me if it is a dinosaur embryo, fossilized? My book does not show, and these are very rare, China holds the record for smallest embryo. Some dinosaur eggs fossils are as small as 0.7 inches. Tis is bigger than that. Thanks. I have more images. Stop the GIF by tapping on it? It also has the ear hole of hole behind the jawbone mandible.

Please take a look of the two eggs with well developed embryos from Ganzhou, Jiangxi Province of China. I was told that the embryos were revealed only because the eggs were broken with bones exposed. These are amazing fossils if they are genuine. Do they look like genuine bones or fabricated ones?

Hellow every body I found this stone during searching for agates on the beach . I can imagine head and tail . I want ask if this is just an imagination or it could be something . many thanks

I already asked about this rock in some fossil forum but yet it remains unidentified. I have my own guesses but in reality I don't have a clue about fossilized things. I found it in Germany Bavaria, the stone is shelly limestone and the egg like mold is about 1 cm in length and wide. I would be glad if someone of you can identify it :)

I purchased a box of rocks and minerals at an estate sale. I noticed the translucent texture of this "rock" and have never seen such an appearance of a rock. While studying the fossil it appears to be some sort of egg fossil. I have no prior experience with fossils other than buying some at museums as a child. But this fossil is fascinating to me! I humbly ask for opinions as to what type of fossil I have. Thank you all in advance for sharing!

This was originally a rock that I thought looked like it was in the shape of a small hip bone or something. I collected it in Marlboro NJ a few years ago, but just recently got the urge to tinker with it. I started to dissolve some of the rock away. After about a quarter inch was removed I thought it looked like the upper half of a newborn or embryotic dinosaur that had been slightly crushed. I have been told it is just a concretion, but I am still convinced it is a baby dino. I have no idea how this would happen. However,. All the pieces are there Eyes, ears, nose, mouth, spinal cord, chest cavity, arms. I believe the large ear looking thing is the crest folded down. You can even make out little fingers and two lungs when looking at it in person. Let me know if anyone else sees this or if I am delusional.

What about a Neanderthal embryo fossil cast mineralized common opal? Would that be rare? I found this in central oregon and I know nothing about it. I thought it was a thunderegg until I started pealing it back and had a laugh with my girlfriend about how it looked like a skull inside. I do suffer from extremely vivid imagination that most people call paradolia. This is not that. After a bit more liberation I now can see a skull, spine a tail (I think ) and a tiny little foot that almost winds up in its mouth. Did some research of features and came up with the above description. I think its casted in common opal I'm not positive I'm still cleaning it. Thank you for any help and your time.

Greetings Fossil Forum members..I am looking for a positive Identification on this specimen, which was found on private property in New Mexico, near the town of Edgewood..Appears to be cast/mold of the contents inside an embryonic egg...I have circled in red highlighter what I believe to be the enlongated, oversized head of this unidentified creature, thought (by me) to be the unborn offspring of an unidentified type of smaller sized plant eating dinosaur, or Sauropod...

This egg is from Jiangxi, China. There are white deposits inside the egg. Are these bone fragments of an embryo?
