Taxonomy according to Fossilworks.org. Characteristics of the genus according to Südkamp 2017, p. 110: “The cup is cone-shaped. The arms are very long, unbranched and without pinnules. They consist of elongate elements. The anal sac is arm-like. The round stem consists of low elements proximally.” T. elongatus is characterized by arms that can be more than 20 times the height of the cup. Identified by oilshale using Südkamp 2017. Taxonomy from Fossilworks.org. Description of the genus by Südkamp 2017, p. 116: "The small cup is conical. The long slender arms are unbranched or may have a single isotomous division high above the cup. So, there are 7 - 10 arms present. Between the long, stout alternating ramules there are two brachials. The anal sac is large and elongate and consists of several vertical rows of small hexagonal plates." There are two species known: R. ramosissimus and R. lobatus. The difference is respectively in their round and similar, and pentagonal alternate, stems. The cup of R. lobatus is more tapered. Together with the brittle star Furcaster decheni STUERTZ, 1886. Palaeoisopus was one of the largest predators of this fauna with a length of up to 25 cm and a maximum diameter of about 40 cm with spread legs. This is a (slightly disarticulated) juvenile specimen. Description from Südkamp 2017, p 140:" Eospondylus is related to Furcaster, especially for its ambulacrals fused into vertebrae, their form, their deep median dorsal cleft and the open groove. The circular disc incorporates only two arm vertebrae and bears small scale-like plates. The five long arms are about as high as wide. They can bend extremely, up to 180° involving seven segments. The laterals have a vertical spine ridge bearing a row of long spines of unequal length. The laterals on the oral surface are more conspicuous, somewhat pear shaped and bear minute groove spines." Roofing slate mining in Bundenbach (Eschenbach-Bocksberg mine) was discontinued in 1999. Taxonomy according to Fossilworks. Diagnosis in Südkamp, 2011: "The large, bowl-shaped cup is composed of three low infrabasals and two uninterrupted circlets of large, five-sided basals and radials. The angustary radial facets are horseshoe-shaped. The basals and radials have a striated surface sculpture (hexagonal concentric lines). The uniserial arms branch isotomously on primibrach three normally and heterotomously higher in the crown. The secundi- and tertibrachs have thorn-shaped plates aborally. Found in what I believe to be Emsian marine deposits here in Maine. The most common fossils found there are horn corals, but I've collected a number of other things there. Phosphate nodules are fairly common there as well.

Description from Südkamp 2017, p. 111: " Cup very tall and narrow cylindroconical. The long, slender, non-pinnulated arms divide three to four times isotomously abouve the fourth to fith primibrach. The anal sack is narrow and elongate and composed of several vertical rows of plicate plates. The appearance of the stem is reminiscent of a string of pearls. Taxonomy from Fossilworks.org. Description (Südkamp 2017, p. 100): "The flattened theca is angular and trapezoidal in outline. The large angular anal field is positioned in the centre of one side of the theca (the anal), allowing it to be distinguished from the other (the abanal). The delicate plates are organized in large arcs across the abanal side. The peripheral rim is flat. The stem is very long. The body-oriented part consists of alternating simple and large collar ring-like elements. The more elongate distal elements are barrel-shaped. The long and slender uniserial brachiales are in the exothecal projections for food-gathering. Name meaning: Regula = Leiste, pleuro = to the side, lateral. Identified by oilshale. Taxonomy from Fossilworks.org. Description from Südkamp 2017, p. 132: " Medusaster is a small ophiuroid with generally 11 to 15 arms. They are slender, taper in the distal part and end in blunt extremities. The disc has the same size as the mouth frame, which included the robust mouth-angle plates together with the large triangular second ambulacrals. The ambulacrals are fused into half vertebrae which are mostly aligned with their opposites. The laterals are sickle-shaped and bear some slender spines." Identified by oilshale. Could be either B. scutatus Lehmann, 1957, B. tuberatus Lehmann, 1957 or B. devonicus, Spencer, 1927. Taxonomy from Fossilworks.org. Description by Südkamp 2017, p.125: "Baliactis has on the lowersurface the large oval madreporite at the edge of the disc. The mouth-angle plates are long and rather narrow. The evenly tapering arms consist on the dorsal surface of three series of plates (radials, adradials and marginals). At the base of the arms there is a pair of larger adradials that is continued by further adradials in a long series up to the tips of the arms. Besides them run a series of elongate marginals. The robust plates on the dorsal surface carry coarse pustules (name). The ambulacrals on the oral surface are in direct opposition and T-shaped. The adambulacrals are rather narrow, crescent-shaped, and bear small spines." Name meaning: Balios = dappled. References: W.M. Taxonomy from GBIF.org Description from Südcamp 2017, p. 34: "The colonies of this tubulate coral are more or less circular in outline. The lower side shows concentric growth lines that give it a wrinkled appearance. The upper side reveals the polygonal form of the corallites, which is often hexagonal. The corallites are of different sizes and the thick walls are perforated by pores. Tabulae are usually absent. This gives the colony the appearance of a series of cavities." Loriolaster was a slow-moving low-level epifaunal detritivore-suspension feeder. Taxonomy from Fossilworks.org. Description from Südkamp 2017, p. 132: " Loriolaster is related to Cheiropteraster and differs by the following features. The smooth skin forms a wide U-shaped area between the arms. The mouth frame consists of the mouth angle plates together with only the enlarged second ambulacrals. Loriolaster has wide ambulacrals and spoon like laterals. Their margin bears three rather short spines as well as one larger spine." Loriolaster gracilis is somewhat rarer than the more robust L. mirabilis. Identified by oilshale. References: W.M.
