Hey! I have just been given this fossils, the previous owner could not find the certificate of authenticity, and I am not sure if it is real or not. It's very heavy, the teeth stand out a lot, and they feel smooth. Could please someone help us identify if it could be real? Thanks.

Brittle star (pink?) Real or not real?

Hi dear friends, I am thinking of purchasing a brittle star fossil like this. But the majority of brittle star fossils I have seen are orange color . So I am not sure why this one is in pink color. Do you think it is natural and genuine (why it is pink)?☺️thank you for your help in advance!

A few days ago I found someone in a facebook group asking about a trilobite fossil if it was fake or real, to which everyone replied that it was fake, it made me very curious since I'm a beginner and I thought it was a good idea if in this section you can publish photos of fossils that you know are fake or replicas and what they rely on to reach that conclusion, in this way it serves as support for the fans, greetings to all and a hug. Pregnant Keichousaurus?

This is described as a female Keichousaurus carrying an embryo in her womb. Apart from other possible issues with the specimen as such, is this conceivably possible? Were Keichos viviparous? And would the embryo's soft tissue be preserved?

' got some signals. These sellers are a real disgrace. Hope I saved some beginning fossil collectors from a bad start...

Legit Carcharodontosaurus Tooth?

Hi there everyone! I've recently been acquiring different fossils to add to my collection and I came across a listing for a carcharodontosaurus tooth that really interested me. Below are a few photos of the listing advertising the carcharodontasaurus tooth. The sellers themselves are very reputable and I am in no way questioning their validity as I'm sure the tooth is a real fossil. Instead, I was wondering if anyone would be able to help me positively identify the fossil as a carcharodontosaurus tooth as I know many different teeth and fossils come from the Kem Kem Beds in Morocco. The tooth is in pretty rough condition and has been glued together as seen through the middle of the tooth laterally, though it looks to still have most of its enamel and serrations in tact. Despite these quirks, I'm still very interested in adding this tooth to my collection and I would love to know if the tooth is in fact from a carcharodontosaurus or if it is possibly from another animal of that time period. I got this trilobite fossil from my mom on Christmas. Something about it doesn't seem right to me. It doesn't look like other specimens I see online. What is up with the eye-like bumps on top of its head? Why is the head so smooth? I'm just a person casually interested in paleontology, so I am by no means an expert. I would appreciate it very much if I could get some insight from people who are knowledgeable in this field. Thank you. (I didn't realize my photos needed a ruler for scale until after I took the pictures. Since I don't want to retake the photos, the fossil is about the size of a kiwi fruit. If that doesn't help, let me know and I'll replace the current photos with ones that have a ruler. Sorry for any inconvenience. )

Hi!, Recently I've bought a Spinosaurus tooth, but my family keeps saying that it is fake. The tooth came in the display, so I couldn't get it open, but I can still see it with great details. Can someone confirm that it is a real tooth and not another fake? The website that I bought it from said the following: Spinosaurus tooth 1.3 inches, form Morocco no restoration. Hi all, First time fossil buyer. Purchased what appears to be a Spinosaurus tooth. This is a birthday present for my little boy who’s dinosaur mad. Wondered if anybody could shed some light on if they think this is real or not. The website notes it’s from Morocco and advised proof of authenticity will accompany the tooth.

I have just come across some newly made fake dinosaur eggs from Ganzhou, China. Ganzhou has a large number of dinosaur eggs dug out from development sites but recently some people are producing fake eggs and sell them at a high price with real eggs from Ganzhou. Take a look of the fake eggs.

So I've just realized the "alligator skull" fossil my parents got me for Christmas last year is for sure a fake. I'm embarassed I didn't notice until trying to ID the species, the real mosasaur teeth threw me off. My parents really went all out spending a couple hundred dollars on this thing, it's the most expensive gift I've ever recieved. So I'm pretty upset they got scammed out of that much money. I imagine it's been too long to demand a refund, but is there anything I can do about this? Was this even legal? The place that sold it to us is an actual shop, not some shady pop-up vendor. I apologize if this isn't the correct place to ask my question, let me know if it's not appropriate.

I have been examining my megalodon teeth and even Ramanessin shark teeth and under the microscope I can usually see (presumably) enamel that had been laid down in thin lines that always turn and meet the tooth edges at a 90 degree angle. It is easiest to see in fossil teeth where the mineral coloring brings out these whitish lines. It is hard to see in extant white teeth. Here are 3 photos of what I mean. The horizontal lines are from the middle region of the meg tooth along the tooth axis. The picture with lines going both side-to-side and up-and-down is from the region near the edge. The picture of vertical lines and the edge of the tooth is where the enamel comes to a 90 degree angle with the edge of the tooth. Heck, even my dentist got animated when I explained what I was seeing in shark teeth. Anyway, these white lines would be all but impossible to fake.

I'm aware that Mosasaur teeth are very rarely faked since they're fairly common but mine has a "root". I was wondering if anyone could help me identify whether the tooth is real or not and if the root itself is authentic? Thank you!

My new Spinosaurus Aegypticus tooth just came in. And it's a big one! Over 4'5 inches / 11.5 Centimeters long. Was wondering if you can see any doings with it? So far i can't.

I live in NYC, and it was a real treat to see a street fair pop up on Broadway after all this covid stuff. Looked like the city was finally back to normal, including rock shop tents selling crystals and fossils off the sidewalk. I wish I'd taken a photo of the fossils, but this seller had four Claudiosaurus fossils that were obviously painted onto the matrix with a bit of dremel work to give them dimension. Price tag: a lot. Gotta be careful out there, friends. I've learned to be so wary from you guys, especially @Troodon.

Is my megalodon tooth real or fake?

I started collecting megalodon teeth about a year ago and this was my first tooth. Now that I have a few others, I’ve noticed possible discrepancies with the tooth. My other teeth have a grainy, gritty textured root but this one has a smooth textured root with a shiny appearance. The root of this tooth is also very smooth/slippery to the touch, whereas with my other teeth, the root is fairly rough to the touch. Also, where the enamel meets the bourlette, that is also quite smooth but on my other teeth, it is fairly sharp and jagged in comparison. Any advice is appreciated as I’m still fairly new to collecting. Thanks in advance!

Hello ! And thank you for accepting me on this forum. Ive just bought my very first fossil, after some discussion with some collectors ive decided to post this fossil here. Because there are alot of fake ones of this species. If anyone could help me with this fossil i would be extremely gratefull as im learning every day ! So all the tips given are very helpfull to me . Ill post the pictures of the fossil below (PS, if it arrives or is proven fake i will get a refund, the owner also send me a video with solvent rubbing on the fossil to show its not paint) he also states there will be a chinese certificate with it. Authentic Kem Kem Fossils? Composites?

Hello! I'm a new member and I was hoping I could get some second opinions on some Kem Kem fossils I'm thinking about purchasing. I've only collected American species, and have been recently interested in bones out of the Kem Kem beds. I've stayed away thus far because of the stories of composite fossils and Frankenstein pieces, but I've come across a couple that I thought were interesting and fairly priced. Was hoping I could get some other thoughts before moving on any of them (wanna make sure they aren't composites or areas of fill look weird). I've attached pictures of three specimens I'm looking at. Any help would be greatly appreciated! 1) Spinosaurus Vertebra 2) Spinosaurus Rib I think this one is what it is, prep work doesn't look the best, but just wanted confirmation I guess. 3) Carcharadontosaurus vertebra (transverse processes) I was wondering if I could get help on confirming the id on this one, not really sure what carcharadontosaur vertebrae are supposed to be like. Centrum is missing, not sure if that's important for the id.
