    Bivalve id please

    I purchased some fossil rocks from a friend who visited the Cincinnati area as well as western Indiana...and a Boy Scout Camp. He told me it was Orcovician or Silurian. I'm looking for id on the bivalves on the "plate". Sorry, my bad! It's actually from the Deep Run Member here in the Finger Lakes Region of NYS. The bivalve is: Pseudoaviculopecten princeps. So much fun getting older! Thanks Greg

    Coral or Bryozoan

    Middle Devonian, Finger Lakes region, Hamilton Group, both are "branching forms". Today I found what I at first thought was a colonial rugose coral Eridophyllum(1st photo by someone on another forum). The outside appearance looks to me to be very simalar to what I found(3rd photo). However, on closer inspection, I realized that the open ends were quite different. In his you can see septa...on mine the inside of the ends are "grainy"(2nd photo). Also it should be noted that mine has been broken at the upper sections. It's been suggested that mine might actually be Bryazoa. Any thoughts? Thanks Greg

    Id please

    I assumed this was some kind of Gastropod, but now wondering if it is a sponge...may not be either. I can't find a Gastropod which looks likely in Linsley's book, and there are no sponges listed. Searched on the internet and found sponges...but the "squares" look bigger than the ones on this fossil. Photos are of top, edge and underneath. Middle Devonian, Finger Lakes Region of NY, near Seneca Lake. Thanks Greg

    I'm asking for an id on this for a friend. It looks like a Rostroconch but I can't find any that have the "vertical striations"...all I can find are horizontal strations. Found in Deep Run Shale, near Seneca Lake in NY state, Middle Devonian Thanks Greg

    Fossilized Plant Material

    I'm from near Cayuga Lake in NY. I found a piece of Fossilized plant material. The "Museum of the Earth" confirmed this and speculated that it fell into the water and sank in my area. She was however not able to identify it. To me it looks like a wood grain texture. Below, the first 2 photos of the large piece, the following 3 photos are close ups of a smaller chunk from that piece. Thanks Greg
