Hello there! I found this bone on the beach in Calvert cliffs state park in Maryland. I tried to find what kind of bone it was, but have been having no luck identifying it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. My best guess is some kind of fish bone? (Thank you!)

Fish bones tend to be flaky or layered to some degree. I can't say for sure, but the size of this chunk makes me think it could be from Xiphactinus. -
Need help in identifying problematic fish bone

Hey everyone Hope you're all doing well! While looking through unprepped/untouched blocks of chalk from last year's fieldwork session in the Late Cretaceous of Møns Klint (Denmark), I found one block that showed a little trace of fish bone. I scraped a bit around it with some dental tools, and managed to reveal the whole fossil. And I'm having quite some trouble identifying it... Could anyone help me? I've included pics and details of the specimen below. Pics: Note especially the 'ridges' in the upper half of the fossil Full details: -Location: Møns Klint, Isle of Møn, Denmark -Stratigraphy: Occidentalis belemnite zone, Hvidskud Member, Møns Klint Formation, White Chalk Group. -Age: Upper part of Lower Maastrichtian, Late Cretaceous; ~70 million years old -Measurements: ~5mm largest width; ~4mm height -Possible interpretations so far: partial fin element, partial scale. Most recently, I considered it to be the partial scute of a Dercetidae fish (based on Wallaard et al. 2019 and Friedman 2012)... But I'm really unsure... I’ve noticed what I believe to be a small fish bone stuck to the rostrum on one of my belemnites this one being a Cylindroteuthis puzosiana. Can anyone else see the characteristics of a fish bone?

This is a kinda funny combination out of a fish bone and a very rare pterosaur bone. The fish bone is the bigger one (5 cm long) and is lying on the top of the pterosaur bone. The piece comes from the quarry Kromer near Holzmaden (Lower Jurassic). As these are marine deposits you can imagine how rare the pterosaur bone is Some very bad detailed pictures: (sorry for the bad quality but my camera is not good enough) -
Yesterday a collague found while he was fishing in a little river nearby Koblenz called ´Nette´ this plate. The slate or greywacke is devonian age. The first time when I saw the pics yestrerday on whatsapp I was really exhausted - maybe a big fish - something like Dunkleosteus or something like this. But today I got the plate, cleaned it and now I think that he found some tectonic marks or microtectonic structures - perhaps somebody has seen something like this before - I´m happy for some further informations .... thanks Chris

Hi all, Picked this fossil up at the fossil fair Ede last weekend, and I have no clue what it is. The paper that came with it said (in Dutch): "cleitrum / schelvisachtige" and apparently it's from the very early Holocene, and it was found in Ymuiden (NL). Doing a quick Google translate, I got as a translation: cleithrum / haddock-like. Those were new words to me, so I googled them and saw that a cleithrum is part of the skeleton of bony fish (though I still don't know where), and that a haddock is a kind of fish. So now I ask you, what exactly is it? And where in the fish would it have been? Thanks in advance! Max

Hello I went on a trip to Hungry Hollow this summer and found some fossils I am uncertain of. Except for the piece of fish bone they were all found in the south pit and are pyratised. 1: Is a piece of a fish? -27mm in length 2: I think this might be a starfish arm? It measures 14mm in length. 3: Fish earbone? Never seen anything like it -10mm in length 4: I really have no idea.. -12mm in length If anyone could confirm or come up with some ideas for the ID's I would appreciate it Phevo
