Hi there. I found this on a field trip to a private quarry in Midlothian , TX (just south of Dallas). It was in limestone / shale in the ATCO formation, where there’s lots of shark teeth and fish bones. I’m pretty sure it’s been compressed as most of the shark spines I’ve seen are much more round and this is pretty oval shaped. Does anyone have any guesses as to species? Thanks in advance!

Had another early morning today, first time out since the time change so getting in the water for sunrise was a little difficult. None the less I launched the kayak around 6am and watched a beautiful sunrise on the water, then got to the beach to begin searching. Not to long after getting to the beach I found a great hastalis measuring 2.02” (my second biggest) and a few steps away found a nice little cow shark tooth! It slowed down from there finding a large fish vert (my largest) with the rest of my finds being a little further apart. Talked to a fellow fossil hunter on the beach who found a beautiful megalodon around 2.5” with great color, I was a bit jealous but it’s always nice to see other peoples finds. On the walk back to the kayak I found a nice little micro meg and some dolphin teeth to wrap the trip up. Another great day on the bay, I’ll be back soon!

I made another trip to Post Oak Creek yesterday morning. I explored a new spot on the creek for the first time. We had some rain and snow in the area last week, but I don't expect it was enough to raise the creek level too much, or wash out much new stuff, but it definitely had everything muddy yesterday. I was surprised that, on this 70 something degree day, there were still spots of snow in shady parts of the creek, over a week after our only snow of the year. It was obvious that there weren't as many teeth in this segment of the creek, and I didn't find any larger teeth. But like other parts of the creek, there were teeth, along with other interesting stuff, to be found.

Hi. It’s been over a year since I have been out hunting. I finally was able to get in a couple hunts in last week. I found the usual teeth and other fossils. It just felt so good to finally get back at it! Wanted to post some of the nicer items I found. Enjoy: 1 and 2. Scapanorhynchus texanus - Goblin shark 3 and 4. Cretolamna - Mackeral shark 5. Coprolite? I am so hoping I am right about this because it will be a first for me! @frankh8147 @The Jersey Devil 6. Bone - probably modern but here’s to hoping 7. What could have been. Haha this would have been a nice one 8. Nice little fish vert 9. I originally thought this was a pieces of a clasper but after looking at pictures I’m not sure it’s really anything. Maybe a enchodus fang piece? Thanks for any feedback!
