This has me stumped, Its fram Java Indonesia, it came in a lot with some small shark teeth, fish teeth and sting ray barb... i assume its fish related? looks like to small tusk like pertrusions, other guess was turtle related, would be great to hear from anyone thats seen anything like this before. Thanks

Anybody can identify this Tooth? Found in cretaceous, turonian sandy-limestone in Poland (Tyniec, Cracow). I think it's a Shark Tooth, or other fish but I don't know which exactly.

Is this a fish scale? Or just a concretion? It's 14.5mm in length. Glacial erratic limestone, found near Jeziorsko, Łódzkie, Poland.

Hi all! Went on another expedition to flag ponds in Calvert MD the other day, had probably one of my best hunts so far in the formation. in total I found 112 teeth, 51 shark, 59 ray, 2 bony fish. I yelled in excitement when I found this one in the shell bed, blending into the grays. There's only two things this tooth could belong to and one of them is a shark I have been hunting for years. I am leaning towards Meg in my ID, as the break line seems to go across the middle where the chevron would be, in addition to the profile of the tooth is girthier than the hastalis I have found. Just to make sure i am not falling for seeing what I want to see. I have shown it here. fragment measures about 1 inch on the diagonal. here is a Burrfish puffer fossil i found in the sifter. for the bones I have a couple more that I am unsure of the ID. this one might be a turtle shell or a reptile bone of some sort? it cant be a cookie I dont think because the ridges are not as pronounced. this bone is odd, because it look slike it has a flat surface on both sides. which makes me wonder what part of the cetacean this migh tbelong to. also, there is a scratch on the sidethat might be a possible predation mark? this one is a carcharhinus tooth I found that seems to have a pathology. the tip is bent outward and up. possibly some other species? this looks to me to be the process of a fish vertebra. I am not sure what this is, but my gut tells me its a fish fossil, these bones both have a similar look/ profile which tells me its a common type of fragment. any ideas? bird bone? it doesnt look to be bog iron, and its shape rules out fish or mammal fish vertebra? anyway, your expertise as always is appreciated! let me know if theres any details about these I missed.

Hey all, it's been a while since I've been able to get near this forum - a 4 1/2 month old baby will do that though! I found this piece in a shop and the price was so good it was worth buying and having a punt at prepping it, what I could initially see was obviously a fish but on a different layer, right near the edge was something else which I have exposed that too. The fish looks a lot like Knightia eocaena, I don't have provenance on the specimen but the seller thought it was from Wyoming, which would make sense. On the lower layer (or upper layer depending on how you hold the matrix) is a mix of......? Help! The progress pics aren't fantastic, some were taken at 2 - 2:30am. Prepping is addictive, once you start it is hard to stop Scale is in CM

I recently found this bit of fish bone in the LaSalle Limestone of Illinois (Upper Pennsylvanian). Measures about 1cm in width. I know that tiny bone bits are tough to identify, but the surface texture on this one seems pretty interesting. I haven't found anything similar before. The positive is shown above, although I think the negative shows the surface texture better. Can anything be said about this? @jdp @RCFossils @deutscheben Thanks for any help.

This is from my own collection. I like it very much and it is like a peaceful painting to me (a fish swimming in the beautiful water) I know the “plants” are not plants, they are dendrites of manganese. But yesterday I was told that the fish is not a fish either, it might be an impression of some kind of insect Want to know what your guys think. Thank you in advance. (it is from Liaoning, China)

Selling Real for Fake Fossils?
Lucid_Bot posted a topic in Is It Real? How to Recognize Fossil Fabrications
Everyone I've encountered on this site has been very helpful, so thank you. However, I'm in need of more help. For the last year I've been collecting real fossils in the field and selling some to pay for more exotic rocks. In a recent post I found that my Solnhofen shrimp is, if not totally, mostly fake. Now I'm quite suspicious of my entire purchased collection and was hoping you could help me identify fakes. The first two pictures are apparently Priscacara, Green River Formation, Eocene; the next two supposedly Asteroidea, Morocco, Ordovician; the last three supposedly Triassic, Arizona petrified wood--this came from the same group that sold me the fake shrimp. All help is appreciated.- 25 replies

Hey all - was back in NJ last week and found the time to hit up the ram. Found this broken tooth that I originally thought was shark, but it doesn’t seem flat enough upon further inspection. It also doesn’t feel like a shark tooth, if that makes any sense. Seems like a fish tooth to me, I just don’t know what kind. I have some subpar phone pics - let me know if you need more, I can get some after work tonight. It’s slightly over 1/2 inch according to my rudimentary ruler I drew on the box it’s on.
