I found a mark of suspected skin in the deepest part of the large footprint of a suspected dinosaur? I found very little data on the toe skin marks on the Internet. Some people know what the skin texture is on the toes of large theropod dinosaurs?

So I got the footprints out of the wash before the monsoon arrives. Still haven’t figured out what the little prints are from. Anyone have info? Lots of nice chirotherium prints.

Labelled as possible polacanthus or young iguanodon but doesnt resemble the polacanthus cast I have. Described as "misshapen." Not the best photos, I know. Thanks

I have my eye on them, but I thought I'd check first. First is labelled as a small carnivore Gralkator/Coelophysis from Scotland late Triassic to Early Jurassic. Matrix is 220mm x 77mm The 2nd pair is again small carnivore but from Hampton County USA, early Jurassic. Thanks

Found this fossil in my grandads old collection, so unfortunately I have no info on where it’s from. Any help with ID would be much appreciated! I thought maybe it was grallator or a Devonian fish? Some more images in the comments

Hello all, Here are a few Diplichnites incertipies specimens that I found on a 2019 expedition in Nova Scotia. It is illegal to collect fossils in NS without a permit, however all the fossils found at this site (see large arthropluera tracks and tetrapod footprints in prior posts) have been brought to the local museums attention. Hadrosaur trackway contribution

I have recently been looking at some of my photos from trips and found photos of when I was in Alberta in 2018. I saw a photo of a Hadrosaur footprint from a trackway in Dinosaur Provincial Park that me and my brother found. I also read not to long ago that no big trackways have been found in this area so I decided to give the information and location to the Palaeontologist at the Royal Tyrrell Museum in Drumheller, Alberta. I was responded by Dr. Caleb Brown, he told me that I was most likely right and it was probably Hadrosaur. I am currently waiting for him to reply again to see what he thinks about the other information of the trackway and footprint that I gave him. One of the footprints outlined in the photo with pen.

What’s your idea on buying a fossil that’s been stained? Yes no maybe? i been looking at tracks that say they have been lightly stained and to tell the truth I have a hard time making out a track without it being stained.

I know this is an old thread sorry. I have a very similar fossil that I found in a pallet of Pennsylvania fieldstone back in late 2010/early 2011. I have kept it all these years always meaning to research it and just this morning stumbled across it and decided to do some googling and happened to find this thread. I really do believe mine is two or three digits of a human hand or possibly a dinosaur with a very similar skeletal structure in its feet.

Hello everyone, I have a question regarding stabilising sandstone to keep it from crumbling. Last year I found and extracted a dinosaur footprint from a block on the beach at Whitby, Yorkshire UK. The footprint is of an Aalenian age therapod from approximately 170 million years ago. The print itself measures 20cm from the base to the tip of the centre claw mark. I am hoping to get the block it is in cut down into a slab in order to frame it but now that it is dry the sandstone is very loose and crumbly. I am looking for something that will add strength to the stone and prevent crumbling without significantly changing the colour of the stone or adding a shiny finish as I would like the finished piece to remain as close as possible to how it was, just stronger. I was hoping somebody would have an idea what would be best to soak the block with in order to keep it from falling apart. Any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thank you, Benton Walters

I found this rock with an interesting indentation around 25 years ago on the side of a steep hill in New Jersey. Forum doesn’t allow me to post multiple images, but one below has my hand in for scale. It appears to be three toed, if a footprint at all. Thank you for your time and attention!

Hi All, I have the opportunity to acquire this specimen.... just curious to know everyone's thoughts? Anything I should be wary about? As far as quality is concerned, where do you think this rates on a scale of 1-10 (10 being museum quality/exceptional track, etc., and 1 being an entirely genuine/original track but a very poor example). I'm still learning about dino tracks.... Thank you so much!

Found more tracks! Been digging out and flipping these big chunks of rock since all the tracks are on the underside. I stand corrected on my loose amateur term dinosaurs - archosaurs is the correct term.

Hello, I have had a long interest in fossils and have acquired a small but very nice quality (at least in my opinion) collection over the years. I've recently become interested in dinosaur tracks/footprints and would like to add one to my collection. The thing is, I can't seem to find any anywhere that don't have staining/coloring applied to them. I understand that this makes them "easier to see" but to me it's kind of strange and detracts from the fossil. If the imprint can't be seen on its own, I don't really want it... The painting just looks a bit silly to me. I've only come across one so far that doesn't have staining on it, and it's this one here (I've included a picture below - the track itself is apparently a bit over 6 inches). But I don't know what to think about this one since the matrix seems cracked and repaired very heavily and the price is still seemingly very expensive (at least to me). I would be very interested to know anyone's thoughts on how you approach dinosaur tracks. And if you have thoughts on this specific example, I'd certainly be open to hearing that too. Thanks a lot!!

I got this from an expo today, it was collected in Gill MA and supposed to be Anomoepus. The rock is about 6 inches by 4 inches. I'm not remotely familiar with tracks so hoping someone here can verify it. Pictures are with and without flash, let me know if you need other angles or anything to ID. Thank you!

Hi. This is a picture of a stone I found near Whitby several years ago. I have always thought it looks like a footprint but no idea if it is just a coincidence that it looks like this. The sample is well cleaned and the shape is an imprint in the stone. Photos are the best I can do with my phone. Hoping with all the experts on here that someone can help.
