Hello everyone, I have been spending a lot of time searching for Carboniferous fossils near my cottage in Nova Scotia. Here are a few photos from my summer "expeditions" in which I found many ichnofossils. However, this post will just be focusing on the tetrapod trackways . I would like to state that the collection of fossils in Nova Scotia is illegal, and all the fossils I found were brought to the attention of the Nova Scotia Museum of Natural History. Hope you enjoy and stay tuned for more! Note: All of these footprints have been preliminary identified as Limnopus, but I would still like to hear your opinions.

Sun was in abad position unfortunately but I’m curious if you think these are just random marks or something else? The top picture marks are about 8” total. The bottom two with the sets of four are about six inches square per set, on a huge boulder. As always, value your input!

Found these in East Central Arizona. A deep wash has cut through a rock ledge containing lots of the footprints. Still working on trying to get some of the bigger rock slabs hauled out.

1st shot at separating red shale in Emmitsburg. I would be grateful if anyone can tell me what, if anything, maybe seen. I see many things and yet nothing. I apologize for poor quality. It is best I can get under 3.95MB. Thank you.

If anyone is familiar with Permian tracks, can anyone ID these? All I can tell is that they appear to be synapsid tracks, but not Dimetrodon. I'm assuming that means Edaphosaurus is out too, but that's all I can figure. the ONLY details still known are that they're Permian tracks from somewhere in Arizona. There's no more information available. There's 4 plates... 1-pic 1 2-pics 2,3,4 3-pics 5 4-pics 6,7

Not sure if these are fossil tracks or not. There is more than one and they are all similar. Maybe some kind of sea creature digging? They were steps to a creek so I can’t place a certain age to them. The age around here is Late Cretaceous so sometime around that time is most likely. Denton, Texas, USA.

Made an incredible discovery at home tonight when I noticed tiny baby dinosaur tracks about only 5.1mm long on a ripple slab I had found. I've never seen baby footprints so small before, so I'm amazed. No wonder I didn't notice them for nearly two weeks after I had found them this month! Since there seems to be a partial adult on the edge it makes me wonder if this dinosaur was walking with its new born baby.

I have started recently being able to hunt dinosaur footprints and while I don't want to cover the ones that are naturally visible I may want some of the lower quality or hard to see tracks to stand out. Anyone prepare tracks themselves or know of a good clear coating? I've heard of rustoleum but I am unsure if it's paint or spray I should be using.

Cretaceous Foot print hunt turns into a wood hunt

After attending my first MGS meeting, which was great, I had the chance to go on a quick hunt at a site that I had found on google earth. I thought it would be promising to hunt for Dinosaur footprints there, It should be Cretaceous according to the geologic map. Thankfully, the map was right and I got to hunt an exposure of what appears to be the Arundel Clay formation. Just about the same as dinosaur park in Laurel, MD except it was more of a clay and conglomerate mix than shale and ironstone. I didn’t find any prints that I’m confident about. One psuedoprint I think (looks like one bit is a lie) and my dad found one that might be a worn one nodosaur track. I am confident I found many piece of fossil wood. I’m thinking I may have found the same site that @EMP has been hunting (I’ll likely have a PM convo with you EMP). I’m gonna continue looking for a better print site but a wood site ain’t bad when Cretaceous sites are as hard to find as they are in Maryland. I have been looking through all records I have of Ray Stanford’s site and am narrowing it down to a few sites. Perhaps someday I’ll run into Mr. Stanford himself while hunting Sadly enough I cannot reveal the site to anyone, I am quite afraid of what might happen to it if word got out. I don’t want to take chances. I will say it’s in Maryland. I would consider trading some lignite if someone would like it but I’ll keep that for a trading thread. Here are some pictures: Tree limb in a bank, sort for bad pictures but I was sinking in Cretaceous clay (don’t want to become a fossil myself)

Follow Up: Connecticut Fossil Track Help

This is a follow-up from another post of mine regarding some dinosaur tracks I purchased a while back. We decided that that the Eubrontes track is 100% real, but some of the other footprints may be questionable or exaggerated. The stain that was used sort of makes it hard to tell. I’m not the biggest fan of this dark polish, so I was thinking I might want to remove it and apply a much lighter, more subtle polish to correctly identify which are really dino tracks vs. not. The seller told me that it’s a shoe polish that can be removed. My issue is, I’m not sure how to go about it doing it. How do I do this without damaging the specimen ? Will water and a rag potentially damage it? or is there another better way of going about it? Of course in the end event that it’s not removable it’s not the end of the world because it still a very nice piece, but like I said, I would prefer a more professional look, as I’m trying to get a little more serious about my collection. Appreciate the help and thanks
