Ordovician, Nicolet River Formation, Sowerbyella
Denis Arcand posted a gallery image in Members Gallery
From the album: Fossil Art
This picture was taken as is, it was not photoshopped, everything is real in the picture. Only the contrast has been adjusted a little bit. I took this picture at a small beach where the fossils are underwater, so I literarily fish for the fossils. You can read my two articles on the subject by clicking on the following links: The day I went fishing for fossils (part I) The day I went fishing for fossils (part II)-

Hello all I have sort of a side project I am wanting to do. I have a small thin wood panel box that while interesting I want it to look cool as well as having use of storage. I have several small give away fossils that I want to put to use with it by putting them on the box to look like it's made of matrix with fossil inclusions. My first thought was to just use grout but having ever done tile/grout work I was unsure how well that might adhere to wood. So my next thought was gluing the fossils to the box and adding in a glue and sand/crumbled matrix to it to make it loo

Hi all, Just wanted to share this little loading animation I made for my ICT class. Thought you guys might like it So, it's in total 165 frames. Those were all made on the program Inkscape. Then I used the program GIMP 2 to add all the layers together and make it into a GIF format. (I have no clue if this would be possible in real life back then, but the goal is not to make it scientifically accurate anyways ) (And no, this is not meant to be a specific genus... It's just the Ammonite madeupbymaximus). Let me know your thoughts! Best re

During the summer months I work for a museum on the "Isle of Wight" and between work hours I go and look for fossils. I have found many things over the years but 2016 was special because I found a hypsilophodon vertebra in matrix! at Grange Chine (Where I happened to be camping). It was professionally prepared out of the rock and from the original specimen I was able to create this illustration. Sadly due to erosion it is missing the front (so you can see the cross-section) even though I would have loved to have the full fossil, I wouldn't have been able to find it as it was the cross-sect
