    Tarrant formation unknown fossils?

One of my smaller slabs from a construction site in the Tarrant formation had a few interesting little fossils embedded that I can’t identify without trying to extract them. Any ideas? Or not a fossil? The Tarrant formation, south Tarrant County TX.
  2. wellsay

What type of fossil is this?

I don’t need anything specific, just the category it falls under. Is it coral, bone, etc. It is very small, about 1/2 x 2/3 x 1/4 (inches).
  3. Casey Morgan

    Can anyone identify these?

I found these cool guys. Can anyone help in identifying these?
  4. Casey Morgan

    Can anyone identify these?

My wife found this amazing, big shark tooth and to me it looks like a great white lol. This butterfly looking shell is cool too.

    Georgia shark tooth ID

I found this tooth a while back on a dredge system in georgia. I was wondering on its ID since im not too familiar with the area.

    South carolina shark tooth

I know its small but I found this tooth a while back and had forgotten about it so while looking through my trips smaller teeth I found 3 Carcharoides totuserratus which i didn’t know were rare until watching one of blackriverfossils videos. So I was wondering what kind of tooth this is and if anything rare? The last photo is the Carcharoides totuserratus I was talking about.
  7. Hello. I found this strange rock on the beach in Lincoln city Oregon, at Siletz Bay. It looks very unusual and seems like it could be a fossil formation of some kind. Any thoughts? Thanks for reading.
  8. I found this in the Aquia formation. The Crown looks too thick for a Mackerel Shark. Any thoughts?
  9. I found my 2nd and 3rd gastropods in the Eagle Ford, but these are unique (to me). Especially one that I found right along the Trinity River in western Dallas County TX. it’s almost glass-like on portions of it and I kept thinking it was still wet due to the reflection. I also found a nice handful of ammonites but I’ll post that elsewhere. I finally met my match with the cold water..I still got in up to my ankles. 🤣😬 any ideas on the gastropods?
  10. So I know I recently posted some fossils that I couldn’t identify, but I’m sorting through my collection and I have found a lot more fossils which I can’t t identify. Could someone help me identify these clam-shaped fossils that I found in Arkona? Any help would be appreciated.
  11. I found these fossils near Rock Glen Gorge in Arkona. I’m not sure what they are. Could someone help me identify their genus/species?

    Kiamichi or goodland unidentified ammonite

I found this ammonite, nothing I’ve ever found before. Notice the raised ribs every 3-4 ribs. What do you think? Tarrant county, near a Kiamichi/Fort Worth/Paw paw formation border but it could be Goodland. Lots of small Hemiaster echinoids and smaller Oxytropidoceras ammonites. This one looks Mortoniceras to me!

    Trinity River gravel bar bone

I found this heavy, dark bone on a gravel bar along the trinity river in western Dallas County Texas. Any ideas? This little calcite-like pebble occupied the hole visible on one end. I have not performed any burn tests, litmus tests, multiple choice tests, or otherwise. I measured it, 9” long almost exactly. Roughly 1.25” wide near the center measuring across the side with the dip. Thanks in advance!
  14. I found this in Nanjemoy, Md today. Anyone know what it is?

    Hello from Washington

Greetings from Washington state. I'm a new member to the Forum but have used information from here for identification in the past. Been doing rocks and fossils for 50+ years, but there are still more things to learn, and I am looking forward to exploring the Forum. Image is cells in petrified wood, magnified 30 times.
  16. We found this very interesting (at least to us) fossil at Beltzville State Park (PA) recently and wondered what you all thought it was of. Thanks in advance for your feedback. We are fossil novices but love learning.

    Shark tooth ID

Wondering if anyone could ID this tooth from a south carolina creek. I found it a while back during a creek walk im more or less new to fossil hunting but im hoping its a worn down Parotodus benedini tooth. thanks
  18. I found this on a recent hike in a creek bed. This is a raised impression and is shaped like a carrot. Does anyone know what this is? Is it a fossil of something? Thanks in advance.
  19. Michael1

    South Carolina shark ID

Found this tooth on a trip to south Carolina a while back. Wondering if anyone can give an ID too it along with like how old it might be? Thanks in advanced

    Eagleford/woodbine fossil IDs?

I don’t usually find these and I can’t say I know what genus/species they are, but I have come to appreciate the fine detail on a lot of fossils in the eagleford and woodbine compared to what I find in the limestone rich Fort Worth/Grayson/duck creek formations. Any help is appreciated! Mostly Tarrant but a little Dallas County TX too.
  21. Found this in a cliff side in Colorado I am not sure but it looks like a mollusk or Crinoid bulb, DINOSAUR EGG!😆 Thanks!

    Help ID’ing

Hi all! New here and I’ve already spent hours down the rabbit hole. I’m a body piercer and jewelry professional but I love rockhounding. I live in Arkansas and we are know for our quartz. I collect rocks literally everywhere I go so I can’t say for certain where I picked this up. I put it in my tumbler with a load and I check the rocks often during the process. This was in the tumbler with first stage grit for about 2 days. When I was doing my routine check, this rock really stuck out to me. I swear I see a bird embryo. Not only that but it feels 3 dimensionally like a bird body. I know the pareidolia is real with my brain but I’m kind of obsessing at this point so I need someone to bust my bubble.

    Suposedly a dinosaur bone

I have this bone, that came in a box full of other bones. This one seems much older and was sold to me as a suposedly dino bone, but seller wasnt sure. Bit of a mystery that I am trying to solve. Maybe someone can help me with this? I will clarify some things-: • this specific bone seems more petrified that the other bones in the box. Those are pleistocene, but this specific bone is heavier and seems much older. More like solid rock. • the bones were gifted to an artist that wanted to make something of it, eventually this artist decided to use different things things for that and put this box up on a local online thriftstore (Marktplaats) for a small amount of money. I bought it, she told me that she was told by who gifted it that it might contain dinosaur bones. She didnt have any other information. • im looking for bones that have a somewhat similar shape, like a crocodile leg bone, smaller theropod bones, a collar bone, anything that might put me in the right direction. • commonly, dinosaur or reptile related bones for sale in The Netherlands come from either Germany, France or Morocco. Statistically speaking, those type locations could be close to its origin. • yes, I am aware this isnt much to go on, and that I will still have quite some work to determine this further. Thanks in advance
