Fossils sites in and around the Geelong area in Australia VIC
Calcium posted a topic in Fossil Hunting Trips
Hi I’ve been to some fossil sites over the year including: batesford quarry, Beaumaris fossil site and jan juc, but I’ve been trying to find more places online but unfortunately I haven’t been able to find any places on small forums etc mostly just the popular places most people know of. If anyone knows of any places that they are willing to share or talk about I’d be greatly appreciated and if you don’t want the place as public info I’m open to private messages- 1 reply

I have been looking into a new fossil site exposing the Bay Point Formation in San Diego, CA. I want to see if it would be legal for me to go collecting there, as it looks like it could be a good exposure. The signs around it say that it is a "Natural Park commissioned by the City of San Diego." I couldn't find anything on Natural Park fossil laws when I looked them up. Does anyone know of the regulations of them?

Fossil of 'tongue' found in France. In cliffs on the D130, above the river Yonne. Coordinates 47°35'03.2"N 3°38'41.5"E
Ron W Davies posted a topic in Fossil ID
Could only upload one image within the max upload. I have many many photo's from different angles but not sure how to upload. The tongue appears to be encrusted in a approx 1-2mm thick crytalised substance, with areas breaking off and revealing the white. There is a larger clear crystal at the tip of the 'tongue'. There is also a spherical object, perhaps an eye, adjacent the tongue. Look forward to your responses. Best, Ron- 5 replies
