    Hypsognathus Tail?

Hello everyone! I have a somewhat interesting piece I’m trying to find more information about. I purchased this from an extremely reputable dealer in my location. Everything I have purchased from him has always been top tier. This specific piece though we do not know much about. Only where they found it. It was found in Wyoming in the Green River Shale. His collector identified it as a hypsognathus tail. The problem I’m coming across is I have had an extremely hard time finding much information about this creature and have failed to find many pictures of fossils from them. If anyone has any information please let me know. The “tails” are a couple inches long each.
  4. Hi all, new member here! I was exploring "Dinosaur Ridge" in Colorado near Red Rocks and found this interesting looking piece - any ideas as to what the cut-out bit might be? It's from the Morrison Fossil Area, which I believe produces Cretaceous period fossils. The part in question is about an inch long. Let me know if anybody needs more info/pics to help ID, thanks to all!

Tampa Bay mystery bone or tooth cap?

Hi Fossil Hunters, This is an unusual Find found at Honeymoon Beach, Florida. Approximately 1 3/4" L x 1/ 1/2" W x 1 1/4" H. It's definitely bone but not sure if it's modern or a fossil or what it is. It appears to have veins or vessels on one side. See 9 macro photos below. All help and ideas welcome. Thanks Lynn
  6. I just acquired this fossil recently. Can anyone provide some thoughts on this fossil? ID also, please. Is this a Barasaurus? Thanks!

    Tooth? or just a rock…….

Hello, I found this rock washed up on the beach in South Florida a few years ago. Ive always thought it looked like a large tooth. Could someone possibly give me their thoughts on this possible being a fossil? Thanks in advance for any help given
  8. I found this in Ocean City NJ, in the ocean under the sand. I think it’s a sharks tooth but I’m not sure, it could be a rock. Any help would be appreciated.
  9. Hello everyone, I would love some help identifying this fossil. I have found 3 of them in the past few months. I find them on the beaches of South Carolina, specifically Myrtle Beach. I am not sure if it is a type of tooth or something else. Thanks! IMG_0893.MOV

    Echinoid fossil ID

This fossil was found in Malta's southeastern coast. I found a pretty nice maltese website: https://continentalshelf.gov.mt/en/Pages/Geological-Map-of-the-Maltese-Islands.aspx According to which the fossil was found in "upper globulina limestone (miocene , burdigalian to early langhian)": Limestone ID The ruler is in centimeters. Any ideas on what exact type of echinoid could this be? Thank you so much!
  12. Hi all. A few days ago I found someone in a facebook group asking about a trilobite fossil if it was fake or real, to which everyone replied that it was fake, it made me very curious since I'm a beginner and I thought it was a good idea if in this section you can publish photos of fossils that you know are fake or replicas and what they rely on to reach that conclusion, in this way it serves as support for the fans, greetings to all and a hug. Here I leave the photos of the trilobite from the facebook post
  13. Was at Stump State Park yesterday searching for sharks teeth and stumbled upon this item, which appears to be a fossil of some sort? I'm a novice regarding this and found this forum and thought maybe someone could help me identify. To me it looks like some kind of tooth. Can anyone assist - I'm just curious as to what it might me. Thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide!
  14. I have this beautiful 3.93in Carcharodontosaurus tooth from the Kem Kem Beds. There’s some very minor restoration done to the tooth, with just some crack filling to two very small cracks in blade. The tip and serrations are completely intact however, which is absolutely incredible

    Turtle shell or scute?

Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. 2022. Initially thought this was a turtle shell but the interesting texture on the underside reminds me of scute. Ideas? it’s 1 1/2 inches long and about an inch wide.
  17. Found this piece of fossilized wood on Myrtle Beach 4 years ago. Reminds me of bamboo. It’s 7 inches long. Wondering if anybody knows their plant life well enough to identify it. Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Typically cretaceous or pleistocene era. Ped Dee formation. Thanks!

    Megalodon/Angustiden Teeth?

Hi there everyone! I recently acquired these fossil shark teeth and was wondering if I could get a definitive identification on them. The top one in the group photo seems to have a cusp on the left side of the root which leads me to believe it’s an Angustiden tooth. The middle one has a very slim shape but no cusp (probably due to damage) so I’m assuming that this one is also Angustiden. Finally, the bottom one has me a bit perplexed. It’s small but is wide and is missing the defining cusps of an Angustiden tooth. Could this one be a Megalodon tooth? Thank you all for your help!

    Mystery Fish

I don't really know much about this unfortunately. Not sure where it's from or what it is. Apparently it was collected in the 1940's though which is interesting.

Beach find in Santa Cruz CA

Hello! Looking for some help on what fossil this is. Found in a tide pool at the beach. I was thinking whale or shark rib? Size is 240mm x 40mm x 25mm. Thanks! Jimmy -
  21. Hi there! I was browsing through my favorite sellers' stores earlier today and I came across this very peculiar fossil. The fossil is said to be of an Ordovician age jellyfish (Eldonia Berbera) from Mecissi, Morocco. I'm still fairly new to collecting fossils, thoroughly researching them, and learning about paleontology more in depth, so the thought of a jellyfish fossilizing never really crossed my mind. I'm not entirely interested in purchasing this fossil; rather, I'm posting this more out of pure curiosity. I'd greatly appreciate it if anyone could share their insight about this particular specimen and I'd love to learn about how such a process as the fossilization of a jellyfish could go about. I think this could be a great learning moment for me and other like myself who are still in the process of learning such things. Thanks y'all!
