Hello everyone, I'm looking for people who have teeth fossils collections to help build a dataset for my graduation project which will be an application that does identify a tooth and extract information from the tooth image. If you don't mind sharing your dataset or a subset of it, please reply to this topic or PM me. Thanks in advance.

Is that Spinosaurus vertebrate or arm?

Hi everyone, I saw another fossil online. But I’m not sure which part of it. Would you help me to identify it, please? Thank you very much -
Can someone help my 8 year old daughter figure out what type of fossil she has?

My daughter is very interested in fossils and has several my dad sent to her. She would like help identifying this particular large rock that appears to have lots of fossils in it. -
Does anyone have any ideas if this is actually a fossil and what it could be? I found it in west Wales by the sea, and I've found fossils very similar to what ever composition this is like a kind of gritty, sandy, delicate rock with tiny crinoid. Bits in it and stuff like that, this one doesn’t have any signs of crinoid, but it has a weird black lump sticking out and something white so this is a fossil?

What is this?? It was found in Leavenworth KS while digging a ditch. It is in rock form and I've never seen anything like this! Measurements are approximately 6.5" x 3" x 3". Any help identifying this would be greatly appreciated!

Hi! I’m still trying to identify one fossil from a particular unit of Pleistocene/Early Holocene lacustrine silt from my hometown of Saskatoon, but I figured I would look away from it for a bit to try and identify another fossil from the same unit I’ve been unable to classify. I have two specimens, both apparently of the same species. They are both approximately 0.5 millimetres across. They are perfectly circular, with lines radiating from the centre and rings of alternating colours (possibly representing growth lines). One specimen is photographed dorsally, showing its circular shape, the other in profile, showing its umbrella-like, protruding outline. All photos are taken through a microscope with my best camera currently available, an iPhone! My main areas of middling expertise are arthropod and vertebrate fossils, so I have no idea what this is! I have briefly studied fossil foraminifera and diatoms in the past, but it looks like nothing I’ve seen in those areas as well. It reminded me of a small limpet, some type of seed or spore, or perhaps even a strange fish scale, but I have no formal suggestions. I’d highly appreciate any help! I will try to supply any additional information you may need. Thank you!

Hi! I was waiting for a water well driller to meet at a lot where I'm building a house and was there early. So I was looking around and found some clam fossils, one of them over 5" long, and mostly complete. Then I spied the rock below and was struck by the three grooves seemingly originating from a similar direction (like a chicken footprint). At first, I thought it looked a bit like some sort of footprint. It seems to be an imprint of some sort. Since all of the fossils I've found there so far have been marine, I'm trying to think what it might be - some branched coral impression, maybe a tree limb that fell into the sand, etc. Have no clue. I'm just now trying to read up on the geology of this area, which, for a long period of time, was alternatively beach and ocean floor for hundreds of millions of years. The third branch is broken off but angles back toward the other two. Anyways, without further ado:

Hello all! In my hunt to find crab concretions I started out at the beaches of the Olympic Peninsula. I wanted to share what I have found! I have gone three times so far and the close to six hour round trip was a bit rough, but very well worth it and I can't wait to learn and discover more. I am struggling to find crabs, but I am continuing my research and hope to figure something out soon. If there is anyone that could point me in the right direction that would be greatly appriciated as well! The first concretion I opened, It took no effort to crack. I speculate it could be a piece of bone? Wood? A super lucky find, I cracked this open after returning home and found leaf fossil concretion! I believe that these are not common on the olymipic peninsula?? I think they are Oak? Quercus? I believe a bivalve? I was confused with this one, could this be a parital crab carapace? Or the shell of a snail? And lastly this claw. Is it shrimp or crab?

A Computer Science Graduation Project : Time sensitive - Responses required
Omar01 posted a topic in Questions & Answers
Hello everyone hope you are all having a great day, I'm an Egyptian Computer Science student thinking about making a software project in the field of fossils discovery. Briefly, the idea is to use a new discovered fossil (teeth) to make a 3D image of it (like this image here :LINK ), and input the image into the program to classify as Existing, elaborate what fossil is it like in our manually created dataset (using Prof. Hesham Sallam fossils Lab) or as "?" for fossils that don't exist in our dataset, The idea's complexity lies in fossils found might be half a teeth or less, which may be an obstacle classifying it. My question is: What do you think of this project? Should the scale be enlarged? And into what? Do you suggest any additional functionalities? What function could be useful in this field? And lastly, are there any advanced projects of software programs in this field done? Kindly attach a link if so. I only have today and tomorrow to formalize the information. Please respond if you can. -
