    Lee creek mammal tooth???

This one has a funny story. I found this tooth in a bag of Lee creek matrix.....which was surprising because all I was finding were dolphin, shark, and coral pieces. After finding the tooth I wanted to research the ID, but my butterfingers let the tooth slip away from my hands and it crashed against a concrete floor, splitting into four pieces. Thankfully @Bobby Rico and @Fruitbat guided me in how I should repair the tooth, and now its fixed Im stumped in my research of this tooth, so my question is can anyone help me with the ID? I'd think the locality won't help, because somehow I found this in Lee creek matrix, and I've never seen a tooth like this found from this kind of material. Its the herbivorous grinding surface on top that confuses me, and rest of the tooth looks carnivorous, like a wolf tooth. Maybe it belonged to some kind of omnivore? Like a pig? It's .5 inch long and 3/4 inch wide.
  2. Hi guys, it's me again. I just found some "fossil-like" objects in my backyard, not a bit too far from my original "dino-looking rock" and I have uploaded some images in imgur link here: https://imgur.com/a/BmMimxO for you guys to look at. Since I am relatively new to this, can someone help me identify those bones/rocks? One of them looks like a tooth but it could be anything. The other one feels and looks like a bone. The remaining two looks like heavy densed bones but I am not too sure if it's actually fossils or metallic objects. Thanks for your input.

  6. There is a forum here but i can’t access it to sell my fossil shark tooth because it says it is a privilege and I do not want to trade it for another item so how can I sell it
  7. I am told it is real and from Morroco but the inner part is carved. What do you guys think and how can you tell? Thanks. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1IyQ0ukwPSXdnZAQzt3sYOu0q86jRPN8N/view?usp=drivesdk https://drive.google.com/file/d/1YJYEcr9mWzeC0S-SpKWWHiBZbtIN8p-T/view?usp=drivesdk

    Allosaurus or Chunkosaurus?

So I was looking around on our favorite auction site, and found some guy offering this and many other listings as chunks of Allosaurus bone. So what exactly am I looking at here? Is this even chunkosaurus? Or is it just a fancy rock?
  9. Not interested in buying ... it’s just to educate myself. Real or fake? I think it looks pretty questionable, but maybe I’m wrong. Not really sure here. .

    Deinosuchus?

Does this tooth fit the Deinosuchus label? It's about 2 inches, and recovered from Aguja, West Texas.
  13. Hi I’m really new at this. I know a good amount about current biology but little on that which is extinct. Basically I want to learn more and this summer I want to look for fossils by the lake (Connecticut) but I don’t know what I should be looking for? I know it’ll prob be sedimentary rock, but other than how do I know what’s a good rock? (also feel free to leave me any cool facts)
  14. Found this in a location known as yorktown - I know part of the formation nearby is rushmere member zone two, but I am not sure if the place I found this would also be considered as such but it was found among similar items, tube worms, ecphora quadristata, diadora and slipper shells. I've found a few pieces of this shell before but they have not preserved well so I'm very excited to finally have a whole specimen of this unique and beautiful shell and anticipate getting an exact ID on it! Is this a Margaritaria abrupta? Let me know if additional photos are needed to aid.
  15. Hello, I have found a strange fossil-like head of a dinosaur (I hope!) but I am not going to hope, because this rock was found in the backyard of my house. I am not sure what it is, but if it is not a fossil, can someone kindly tell me what it is (including the name of the rock and how it got there) and explain why this is just a coincidence. Check Imgur link here: https://imgur.com/a/iAMEBMM for more pictures.

  17. Hey guys was wondering if this is indeed a real Edmontosaurus/Hadrosaur skin impression. Seller says it was taken off of a 98% complete Edmonto excavated from the Hell Creek formation in South Dakota. Seller says it is 1.26 inches long. Please advise!
  18. Hey guys, my mom is finally starting to collect fossils with me! She picked these for her first purchases and wants to know if they are real before buying. Ammonite and edmontosaurus skin. Please advise!

    GR fish ID

Hello! I'm super happy because I just finished my first self-prepared fossil fish! My original thought was Diplomystus, but as I finished the prep job I became suspicious it was a Knightia, possibly K. alta. just wanted to know if anyone could help me with the ID, and any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Nanotyrannus tooth?

Does this tooth check out as Rex or Nano? The seller identifies it as Nano, but the tooth looks thick like Rex teeth. I need help with IDs between Rex and Nano because their teeth are so similar. Its 1.5 inches long, found from Hell creek. Help would be appreciated

    Possible plant like fossil?

I found this little rock among the river rock that's used as decoration at work. Just over 1.5" long by 1" tall & 3/8" at its thickest. The rocks are from a local quarry here in Central Washington State. It seems familiar, but I cant quite place it. The 3rd picture (bottom) show's it growing through the rock. Any idea's?

  24. Hi there, I found the attached pictured fossil on Kimmeridge beach (Dorset, England) yesterday and would love to know what it is. I jokingly said it was dinosaur skin, although my dad retorted with "it's just a group of shells"... but either seems viable, or are we both wrong? I'm happy to provide further info if required.
