This matrix of shells is for sale and the description says it is a fossil. I would greatly appreciate any advice on whether or not this seems to be a genuine, fossil, or a more modern matrix. Thank you so much for your expertise everyone.

Found around or near Siskiyou County Far Northern California. The largest looks like fossilized crystals, the next largest seems like fossilized shells and even a fuzzy thing growing in it, the rock definitely has what looks like the shell of something and then there is a white brown rock. Im not a collector just want to know what these are and if people would be interested in them. thanks for any information.

Xyne grex (Extinct Herring Relative) - Jalama Beach in Southern California

Found some nice Miocene period fish fossils in 2020. They have been ID'ed as Xyne grex (Extinct Herring Relative) but other and larger fish species fossils as well as shark teeth have been found there too. Hello fellow fossil people, The images are of an unknown specimen collected from a well known fossil site just south of the city Melbourne in Victoria, Australia. I'm finding it difficult to even get a genus let alone species on this. I'm thinking its perhaps some kind of crab species given what appears to be four leg sockets on each side. Another thought regarding ID is a lamp shell, Brachiopoda perhaps in the family Terebratulidae? The ruler scale in the photos is in millimeters. Thanks in advance for spending time looking at this and would be happy to answer any questions or provide more photos if needed. Kind regards, Jack

Hi, appreciate any ID help on this one from Chivo Canyon in Southern California. About 4-5" in diameter found inside of a roughly 1 foot diameter rock. The area is known for Eocene and Oligocene period fossils. Guessing this may be a sponge, coral, or possibly echinoderm like a Sea Urchin. Stumped on the ID so far. Most of the other fossils in the canyon are mollusks and gastropods. Thanks! -Chris.

Just posting some pics of some finds from Chivo Canyon from 2020 and 2024. Would really appreciate any ID inputs on the Unknown Fossils especially the roundish one with many circles in it. It was roughly 4-5" in diameter in the center of a roughly 1 foot diameter rock. Guessing Sponge, Coral, or may an Echinoderm like an Urchin. The Chivo Canyon area is known to have fossils from the Eocene, and Oligocene periods. There are also a couple other unknown fossils which could be bones but not sure. The Tower Snails or Turritellas are probably mostly Turritella Uvasana. I don't know what the other Gastropods are. Thanks in advance for any ID ideas! -Chris.

Hello all, I posted a tooth yesterday that you kindly identified for me, and I have a few more fossils that I found that I would really appreciate an identification on. All found on Zandmotor beach, The Netherlands. There are four specimens: 1 A bone with a hole in the middle, seems like a vertebrae(??). Any idea what fragment it really is and maybe what kind of animal it came from? Length: 2.5 cm 2 A bone that I would also like any information about, although it might be really hard to identify. - 4 cm 3 Small, flatter bone. - 4.5 cm 4 Are these petrified wood by any chance? They do feel like a rock and also sound like such when I gently hit them with another rock. There are 3 pieces in total that I have shared. - around 6 cm.

I discovered this in some open space near my neighborhood. They appear to be bone but not sure what type? The open space where the fossils were found was formed during the Arapahoe formation.

I need Advice on Getting this Fin spine out of the rock

I am not sure if this is the right place to post this on the forum, but I am going to be completely honest and admit that I need advice on trying to get this fossil out in one piece. I have a small portable rock saw which I have tried using to no avail. I have also tried chiseling around it but I am an amateur and have only used this rock saw on easier-to-get targets. I do not want to break this and glue it back together unless it is absolutely necessary. My original plan was to cut in a sort of # pattern and chisel the sides till I got deep enough to chisel out a rectangular slab but then got cold feet. This fin spine is lodged in a half-sunken 5 to 7-inch thick chunk of limestone that is too large to carry or move. I want to try and extract this fossil before the rock pile gets taken to the dump, or this fossil erodes completely into nothing. I know it's not in the best shape but it means a lot to me as it was my first "big find" when I started field collecting a few years ago and any advice is appreciated. I am not sure if I should just keep chiseling the sawed portions till it begins to break loose or what my next steps should be. It is also so close to being covered in sediment and so close to another chunk of limestone I am unable to fit the portable saw blade completely in place to saw more for the bottom portion, beyond where it is already cut. (it is at an incline and the rocks form a sort of V shape). I think i may have panicked when I heard that the landowner may be calling waste management in a few months. Once again sorry if this is the wrong place to post this, and move this post if need be.

This is an item that was with NSR fossils, but I'm not 100 percent sure it was from there. It's obviously broken, but has a similar shape to other much smaller item posted earlier. Any thoughts as to what it is are welcomed. almost looks like a wishbone.

Hey all, can you help me ID some finds? Recently pulled some interesting bones from Big Brook. Pickings were a bit slim this round with typical wear of the location. See below. Jaw of some kind. Probably a fish like pachyrhizodus, but could it be a small mosasaur fragment? Next is a random chunk of bone. Thinking cretaceous as well, maybe reptile. This last one was a real headscratcher. Initially leaned toward pleistocene but now thinking cretaceous. Could it be a croc bone? Also bonus including the most majestic/biggest coprolite I ever found, and wow what a great specimen lemme tell you folks. Just my luck 🤣🤣🤣
