I am new to this forum so please forgive me if I don't do something right. I was rock hunting this weekend near a NW Missouri small river and came across this. It looks like a petrified animal LOL. I am just baffled! It is in pure rock form. It's about 1.5" tall and about a half inch wide.

Hello I could use some help with finding out what I have. From what I've heard and seen on the internet it's something like agatized fossilized coral. This piece of coral weighs right at 18 lbs with shining crystals throughout. Any input would help greatly thanks

Hello! I inherited this piece with the idea that it could possibly be a space rock. I checked the magnetism and it has no magnetic properties whatsoever. After closer examination with an open mind and a little imagination, I see a petrified baby dinosaur laid on its side with its neck possibly broken at the base of the skull. Below what looks like the neck is a split section that looks like a chest cavity with a arm/leg on either side. . The strangest part is that there seems to be the head of another species resting on the side of the laid down fossil. I see the right eye socket at the top of the head and the raised ridges on top of the skull back to the decapitation point. (It almost looks like it could be a tiny horse laid on its side, but it looks like little fingers on the end of what looks like the front leg)

I seen a topic lastnight that mentioned "ripple marks". I'd never heard of it but had an idea that I had some & turns out that I have a bunch of these & some of them probably weigh a few hundred pounds. I didn't know what they were called but common sense told me what I was looking at. I had planned on cobblestoning my driveway with them originally because to me they look like big stone polaroids of ancient waves & ripples going across the water. This is not a photo of mine but looks exactly like what I have except mine are like 1ft thick. I'll get some pictures if anybody needs or wants any. So what can I learn from these & what can they tell me?

I can't remember where exactly I grabbed this rock, but it resembles bone I think? Either way, it seems unusual so I was wondering if anyone here might be able to help me figure it out.

Not sure if they're fossilized bone or not. The do stick to my tongue. They're fairly dense and anywhere from 4 to 4½ inches in length.

The community I live in was once a farmstead in Rowan County, North Carolina. I believe a section of my yard was once a creek bed. The other day I found one of my dogs playing with this item and after spending hours trying to find anything that looked remotely like this, I’ve come up empty and decided to ask you all. The object is hard, like rock, does not rattle, it’s approximately 1.75 x .75 inches. It’s coloring is almost flesh tone, with darker gray areas and yellowish parts inside the more damaged area. The space at first glance looking fetus like, and there seems to be a little wrinkled piece that looks tail or appendage like. I thought maybe a petrified seed or nut but so far nothing I’ve looked at fits. What do you think? Thanks, J

Found in NORTH CENTRAL MISSOURI, USA My mom and my nephew found this "rock" a few years ago. I was telling my mom about this group, she asked me to post this here. She's wondered for years if it could potentially be a Petrified heart, it has what appears to be valves on it. She doesn't know who she would contact to find out if it is a Petrified heart, so if anyone knows who to contact about this, we'd appreciate it. It weighs 1.92lbs. Thought you guys would think it was cool.

Alright guys, I'm new here. This is my first post. But I went to go back to a place i used to go swimming when I was younger and on the walk down the creek to get there, I found this bone fragment. Odd thing is the dry bed was flowing this time which I have never seen other than one other time. I didnt think much of it as I found these all the time. I put it on my pocket, got some cool pictures and left. I came home and did a little digging and i cant figure out what its from. It feels like porcelain or china-ware full of air. So I'm assuming it is fossilized. It was found is Lisbon, Ohio. But another odd thing is it reeks of a strong sulfer smell but only when its wet. Peaking of that i know you shouldnt be licking random things but I did the tongue test and it did stick. Any help would be greatly appreciated! (I will be taking photos is reference of top and bottom. The "socket" side is the front.) Dimensions Front, top to bottom- 8.5cm Front, left to right- 8cm The thickest portion is the top right corner, measuring at 2cm. Top left corner 1.8cm. The rest is on average .5cm. The "socket" does warp the other side of the fragment. The back side is much smoother than the front side. Any other questions just ask. I have as many as you probably do.

Going through a forgotten corner of the basement last night I stumbled upon a box with some of my grandfather's "rocks" that my grandmother gave me when she sold her house and moved in with my mom a few years ago. As far as we (my grandmother, mom, and myself) know these were all found in Maryland. He worked for the state dot for years as a bridge inspector so they could be from anywhere in the state. The lighter 2 pieces I am confident that they are petrified wood, the brown/red looking one I am not as sure. The brown/red piece's outside is almost like spaghetti noodles laying tight against each other for lack of a better description.

I had this in my rock collection for quite some time. I must have thought it was a nice chunk of obsidian, years ago. I was going through my rocks with my son and found myself questioning whether this could be fossilized cancellous bone. Any insights would be most appreciated.

Found several of these while digging a hole for the swimming pool in our house. It was very surprising as I found hundred of them. Can anyone tell it is century old. I took a video of my discovery too.

This is a heavily permineralized bone. That is not in question. It was found along with many other Mammal bones likely Pleistocene. One has been identified. Another has been cut open and polished to show the inside and it is clear it is bone. This looks like some samples of foot bones I have seen. I would like to confirm it is not human and hopefully get a species.

Does anyone know what this is? I am thinking, perhaps, it is a piece of a stone crab claw? Someone mentioned shark tooth. Found at Quintana Beach, Texas; Gulf of Mexico ocean, two days after two hurricanes hit landfall.
