Hello! I have become recently obsessed with amber that contains fossils of ancient life. Looking at a piece of amber is like seeing a tiny piece of another world, frozen in time. Since I'm a newbie to the whole thing (though I've seen Jurassic Park at least 30 times since it came out. Ha ha Somehow I think, not so accurate), any advice and info from all of you would be great! Just anything at all. I have always enjoyed looking at fossils of all sorts but amber is my current interest. I would love to see photos of your collections! I doubt there is anywhere in my neck of the woods to find fossils but if anyone knows of any that would be great too. I can't even get anyone to show me where they find arrowheads and I know for a fact we have those around here. Oh well, some people like to be mysterious.

Hi, I'm sort of new to the forum but have been digging round the streams on NJ for a while. Over the winter I picked up dremel that's solely dedicated to prepping fossils. Anyway, I'm looking for a site or person where is can buy bulk material/concretion/nodules to work on.

When I got home from work today, I had three surprises waiting for me. Two packages from trades with Maxfossils and Britishcannuk, as well as my Florida fossil permit.Yayyyyy! Here are pics of what I got. The first four teethare from Max. They are from Belgium. From Russ I received Bull and lemon shark Teeth from The Bone Valley formation in Florida. Thank-you very much Max and Russ. These teeth make nice additions to my collection!

Hey everyone. I'm really loving this forum a lot. If I read one post from anywhere on this forum, it makes me want to go out and search for fossils immediately. I definitely caught the fever and I'm loving every second of it! I was at Big Brook in New Jersey yesterday, and I've had some trouble identifying some of my finds. I just want to get better at learning, and I know you all will be the best teachers. I've already posted a question to IDing other finds, but I forgot to add this shark tooth to that mix. I know the one skinny, long tooth is from a Goblin Shark, but I don't know what other other is. I'm sure many of you already know, but just in case, Big Brook fossils date back to the Cretaceous Period. Thanks so so much everyone.

Hello everyone, So I recently became serious about my collecting, but have had a few fossils for years now. I keep them in my room in an open bag (for now). My room is small and I usually have the door closed. I just learned some fossils could have uranium which could produce radon gas as it decays. Being someone who is paranoid about everything connected to the big 'C' word, I was wondering if my small collection poses any health risk. I have two fossilized shark teeth, two amber specimens, an alleged dinosaur bone fragment, a trilobite, an ammonite, a cephalopod, a mammoth tusk shard, a dino eggshell piece, and some non-fossil artifacts. It's a very small collection in a very small bag. But...being quite paranoid due to my father passing from cancer (he smoked A LOT) I became kind of scared and it actually made me want to stop collecting fossils altogether and just focus on artifacts. Anyone know anything about the safety of collecting?

Hi! Im looking fossils from Paratethys area. some nice, big tipical specimens. -
Hi everyone! I don't know why I have not posted these sooner as I have had doubts as to their true identity for some time. The first two teeth were found at Big Brook. After researching I felt that they closest resembled #1 bear and #2 beaver. The third tooth I found at Brownies Beach. This I felt was peccary.I am hoping those of you with more knowledge than I have could help me out here. Thank-you in advance. Dave

I was wondering if anyone has ever been to a fossil show in Japan. I found some pictures on the Internet of some fossil shows in Japan and the quality of the dinosaur fossils shown are incredible. I'm not sure when or where these pictures were taken.

I bought some coprolites ( Mineralized dung) that came from Madagascar. I have some questions. What is the real age of them? Some sellers on the Internet say it's from the Eocene, others say it's from the pliocene. What animal did they come from? They were labeled as turtle coprolites. And last, Are they really coprolites? They could easily be concretions or some other geological thing. I have not been able to find much information. Here's a pic
