Hi, several months ago i found a very tiny and rather flat urchin in a block which had two spines. I managed to disengage the urchin, but it is really too tiny for my camera. The spines are bigger and i wondered to what family of urchin they belong (maybe a cidarid ?) I also join the photos of the urchin that was with them (although i don't know if that would help). @Coco @caterpillar ? The smallest spine : The bigger :

fossils and minerals/vs carboniferous
fifbrindacier posted a topic in Member-to-Member Fossil Trades
Hi everybody. I friend of mine entrusted me with his fossils and minerals because he wants to make tradings against carboniferous items. If you have coal to trade he'd like something with a mineral Inside (he's from the north of France, so he has plenty of coal). Please, PM me your proposals, i'll show him your photos. Hi, i found that pelecypod in the serravallian of my department (Landes), in France. I thought it could be a Panopea. What do you think ? Note : i can't take photos of the other side because it is too fragile to be totally disengaged from its matrix.

I bought a group of ammonites recently and they were described as coming from the Brittany coast of northern France. I don't know a lot about fossil sites along the French coast but after a little digging I came to the conclusion these probably came from sites nearer Normandy. I asked the seller for further information but sadly the person who collected them has passed away. I thought I'd post a few pics here in the hope that someone might be able narrow down the locality a little further. Thanks in advance for any help!

My Wife's Jurassic Ammonite Finds from Europe 2011
Uncle Siphuncle posted a topic in Member Collections
I was overwhelmed with prep immediately after the 2011 trip my wife and I took to Europe, so I put down some of the more involved prep work until now. Initially I prepped only the flashiest stuff we found. Happy to be all caught up. Prep involved air scribe, dolomite microblast, and coating with a mixture of beeswax and turpentine. Hope you find them as appealing as we do. First, Drügendorf, Germany. -
This is being sold as a megalosaurus vertebrae from France. How does it look and I’m pretty sure megalosaurus isn’t from France so is there a chance that this is poekilopleuron? It is Jurassic late tithonian and is from Re, Charente - Maritime, Dept 17, France.

last weekend on our field trip where we usually search for cenomanian ammonites we also found a few phosphate ammonites on the beach that were washed out on the beach from the lower albian layers. most of them were only fragments or encrusted with phosphate, but I managed to prep few of them with very good results: the specimen on the bottom of the picture: Anahoplites planus Hoplites sp. Euhoplites ochetonus

Found two of these similar shaped stones. They both have the resemblance a tooth. Curious if anyone has any insight. They were found in Charente, France. They seem to be possible internal molds of crustacean. I would greatly appreciate if anyone has any information on this. Thank you!

Hello, I found a piece of bone on the beach from Cap Blanc Nez in France. There it is mainly cretaceous but pleistoceen can also been found. Or maybe it is recent, I really don't know. Any help would be appreciated!

Hi everyone, Last week I went to the French cliff coast between Calais and Bologne Sur Mer. At Petit Blanc Nez, a coast famous for its marcasite and ammonite, I found a remarkable bone that looks like a tail or a foot bone. I compared it with finger bones or foot bones, but the middle bones are to short to be a foot and there are to many bones to be a finger here's a link that leads to the exact location where i found it: https://goo.gl/maps/nSv73i2kYwXwqhij7 Can you help me out? Thank You!

I just found this guy in some old boxes. I lost the ID card, but if I remember correctly, it came from France. I don’t know ammonites so I have no clue if this could be identified at all without a precise locality.

Hi, I'm Fabien, I'm a french guy living in the south of Spain. I'm here to read some posts and ask some questions (one of the first will be about buying fossils). I do not know a lot things about fossils but since I've watched some videos on internet, I want to know more about them. I think I am in the right place for that, with passionates from each part of the world. See you soon.

Hi everyone, I have recently acquired this Xipheroceras from an old collection... it comes from the upper sinemurian of Burgundy in France. The genus Xipheroceras is easily recognisable by its spines on the edge of the whorls but would you have any idea for the species? I have not found much information for the moment.. there is Xipheroceras ziphus, trimodum, drudrieseri but I have no idea of which it could be and if these are the only species I know but there are maybe more... thanks in advance for your help!

Hello, since it is the holiday for me, I was wondering if anyone here knows about dinosaur fossil sites (or sites in Europe near France) that I could visit and be able to collect specimens from. As I know certain sites like Cherves de Cognac are closed, I want to make sure that I go to a site I am positive I can hunt in. Regards, indominus rex

a very windy fieldtrip in the North of France
Manticocerasman posted a topic in Fossil Hunting Trips
This Saturday Natalie and I hit the road towards the jurassic and cretaceous clifs in the North of France. This is a 2h trip from where we live, so we left early to make most of the use of the favorible tides on those beaches. the 1st stop were the Titonian deposits near Wimereux, not the most easy place to find fossils, but with patience some nice fossils can be found. Th big problem although on this trip was the wind... this made it relatively hard to search for fossils. we did manage to find a couple of jurassic ammonites, one of them was more than 30cm in diameter but needs a lot of cleaning. In the afternoon we went to the beaches at the cretaceous clifs near Calais. here again the wind gave us a hard time blowing a lot of sand in the air. Although the harsh conditions we did find a few decent cenomanian ammonites, including a nice heteromorph turrilites sp. pictures of the Titonian deposits and finds: pics of the ammonites of the cretaceous site:- 15 replies
