The weather is turning here in Ontario Canada, leaves are raked, stuff is stored safely away, waiting for the lake effect snow. Went for a walk along the lake and well couldn’t resist this rock. Here is my question: In geological time, what do you all think is the top and what is the bottom? Is the limestone newer or older than the layered what I believe is silicate. Every rock tells me a story, I see the impact of multi cell animals, and what I believe is the heavy tidal action of the Silurian sea because of heavy gravity interaction of earth and moon, cephalopods, bivalves, …

Hello, I recently cracked open a rock to find one the most pristine and unusually shaped fossils I've seen in a looong time. I predict it might be the edge of a bivalve shell poking out, but I wanted to know what others might have to say about this. It was found in the rock deposits of the rivers in Toronto, Canada, and is part of the Georgian bay formation. Also, only the bottom half seems to be completely crystallized and is translucent, whereas the top is relatively opaque: I am somewhat worried about totally ruining the fossil if I try to further crack

Hi all, I found this one seven years ago along the western shore of Georgian Bay, Ontario. It looked to me like the footprint of a very small theropod of some sort, but it might just be a misleadingly shaped rock. Any help would be appreciated!

My daughter and I have started fossil hunting and came across this a few weeks ago. Pretty sure the ribbed-item (near the tip of my thumb) is a cephalopod, but unsure what the rest of the white pieces are? Thought they might be pieces of bone, or possibly wood? Not sure? Hoping someone could shed some light. Found this on the Bruce Peninsula (Ontario, Canada), on the Georgian Bay shoreline. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks, Kristin.

More ichnofossils, this time from the Ordovician of the Georgian Bay Fm (Lower member) in Toronto ON. @JUAN EMMANUEL sent them to me. In particular we got wondering about the little bumps all over the 2 pieces in the first pic, and the large 'mound' (or infilled hole) in the last pics. Anyone have any IDs for these or suggestions as to the nature of their formation? Here is the 'mound', with 3 side views.
