Hi, My name is David. I'm 54 and I grew up here in Watkins Glen, New York. That's at the southern end of Seneca Lake, one of the Finger Lakes of NY. The village is probably most well-known for auto racing. I lived in Ohio for about 12 years and then came back here 4 years ago. I will be moving next Spring, not sure where yet. Anyhow, I have been interested in fossils, rocks, minerals, and Native American artifacts all of my life. This region is quite rich in all of the above. According to the experts, this area was part of a large, shallow inland sea about 350 million years ago. Then there were the advancing and retreating glaciers that brought in non-native material from far to the north. Glacial till around here yields some very fascinating specimens. My family had 6 acres, with a stream running through it, plus a lot of large vegetable gardens, for almost 50 years. There was always something new to find. Plus, I took a course in Historical Geology in college 35 years ago. Loved the field trips! On one outing I brought back a specimen that weighed about 80 pounds....on our college's mini bus. Anyhow, this past summer was more productive than ever before and I look forward to sharing the finds. This seems like a great site.

Found in glacial till, slumping sandy bank of stream, top of the ground. Land on western side of Seneca Lake, Schuyler County, New York. What is the best likely candidate for having made this footprint? Matrix is tan sandstone. I didn't know if black and white would help or not. My equipment is limited plus no sunshine right now.
