Hiya guys! I'd like to ask help for ID. This tooth in matrix is from Akrabou Formation in Goulmima, Morocco, and I would like to know which polycotylid plesiosaur (maybe?) species can match this tooth🧐

This is a very nicely preserved Pliosaur tooth from Goulmima apparently. It has the details of a Pliosaur tooth. Only question is the color. Lots of them are brown to red colors. This one is grey/black. Could this be from a different location?

got a nice fossil on a fair a week ago and started prep. Think it is a part of the vertebrae-column of a Plesiosaur, reminds me to posterior cervical vertebrae. What do you think? Big one, total size of the nodule is 40 cm, what you see is around 30 cm upper cretaceous, morocco, "Goulmima"

Hi, I'm not sure what exactly this is? it is a strange fossil and according to the seller it is a Plesiosaur skull with a few traces of bone? and was found above the ground. Not sure what to make of that but I think I can see some tooth sockets and maybe the eye sockets (unless I am very mistaken), it just has me stumped! thanks for any help

Hi, Wanted to get some opinions on this tooth. The tooth is from a Pliosaur with a root attached, what I want to know is if the root belongs to the crown. There is some matrix around part of the crown and extends just past the root which is my main concern. My initial thoughts are that the tooth and the root belong together so I just want to see if everything looks alright! thank you

Hi all, due to various moves across continents I lost information on this particular Ammonite. I know you love some good detective work and I would be so grateful if anyone could help getting the label back up to speed Size is 12 cm long and 5 cm wide. What I could decipher/infer from the remnants of the label: Meto(f).... sp. Djebel Ait ... north of Goulmima, Morocco Thanks for taking a look!

Pliosaur tooth with possible repair work?
msantix posted a topic in Is It Real? How to Recognize Fossil Fabrications
Hi, I was wondering how this tooth looks? I think it is all natural but there is a part around the middle of the crown that could be just the preservation, but would like to get a second opinion on it (there are still striations through it). Thanks! -
Hi, Saw this and I think it is a small lower Polycotylid jaw (possibly from Manemergus or Thililua) and I wanted to get some opinions on it. It comes from near Goulmima in Morocco and is 42cm in length. Thank you!

Hi, Just wanted confirmation about whether this tooth from Morocco is Pliosaur or Polycotylid. The crown is somewhat small, but there are still striations on it. I lean towards Pliosaur but I'm not 100% sure at this point. Thank you!

Hi, I have this tooth from the Akrabou Formation in Morocco, and I was told it is a Plesiosaur tooth most likely belonging to the genus Libonectes (An Elasmosaur). I just wanted to get an opinion if the id is correct or whether it could belong to something else like a Polycotylid. The tooth is just over 3cm in length. Thank you!

Hi, I always struggle to tell the difference between a Plesiosaur tooth and an Ichthyosaur tooth. This tooth comes from Goulmima in Morocco (lower Turonian) so I believe it is a Plesiosaur tooth (possibly a Pliosaur tooth), but wanted to confirm it here. The tooth is 4.2cm in length and retains the ridges on the tooth which I think is how you might tell the difference between Plesiosaur and Ichthyosaur. Thank you!

Hi everybody! Today i wanna show you one of my dearest ammonites...Choffaticeras segne! Making a search by keywords in TFF, i found only three results for this species...so i decided to enlarge the number! Now i present you my Choffaticeras segne: it comes from Goulmima in Morocco, belongs to Turonian (Upper/Late Cretaceous), it is 19cm in height and 1.461kg in weight. This specimen has been polished in both sides, obviously. It's very decorative and it makes its good looking part in my living room. I love its external sutures, how do you call this kind of suture in english? Please, let me know! For who loves taxonomy and scientific classification (like me), i leave you a little pattern that i made. Thanks for "watching" Choffaticeras segne Dominio: Eukaryota Regno: Animalia Phylum: Mollusca Classe: Cephalopoda Sottoclasse: Ammonoidea Ordine: Ammonitida Sottordine: Ammonitina Superfamiglia: Acanthoceratoidea Famiglia: Pseudotissotiidae Sottofamiglia: Pseudotissotiinae Genere: Choffaticeras Sottogenere: Choffaticeras (Choffaticeras) Specie: Choffaticeras (Choffaticeras) segne

Please offer any comments as to the ID of this piece. It was acquired years ago from Poland; but it was reportedly quarried at a Cretaceous site, Goulmima, Morocco. The matrix proved to be far too hard for the low powered tools I utilize for prep; so the piece languished in the garage for years. Finally it was shipped to Kris in Tx. Below is the account of his prep travail. As stated, it was labeled "Plesiosaurus, Cretaceous, Goulmima, Morocco." Any conformation or condemnation will be appreciated. I have real trouble visualizing the relationship between the appearance of the "front" and the "back" of the piece. To my eye it is almost as if the "back" represents the imprint of a different string of verts?!? Here is the display side that finally emerged. Here is the "back" side which was partially visible when the piece was received. Thanks for any observations.

Hi, i asked previously about a couple of Pliosaur teeth which i now have, but there are these two other teeth from the Goulmima site in Morocco that look quite different and i was wondering if they could be Polycotylid teeth or from some other marine reptile. The first tooth is 6.2cm (2.44 inch) and the other tooth is 4.1cm (1.6 inch). Is it possible to narrow these teeth down when the enamel looks worn?. Thanks.

I found this specimen in a crate full of unprepared ammontes under the table of a Morrocan vendor at a fossil show in Filderstadt-Leinfelden. It was covered "from head to toe" with oysters, but I cold see upon inspection that they would be removeable. In the end I decided to keep them attached to one side. The calcite internal mold reveals the sutures excellently as well as the septal wall in the third photo. The fact that this is just the phragmocone shows how large this ammonite could have been.
