This week I found this in the Reno, Nevada area. I'm trying to get some information on what it is exactly and if it is indeed a fossil. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This egg shaped specimen is from the western great basin, found in a recent washout of loose sediment. There are other specimens and what appear to be fossilized bones in the photos provided. I inadvertently stepped on some before realizing what they were, but the disturbed area is minimal.winter is just beginning in the area so weather has not been extreme up to now. Know idea how long the site was exposed but no evidence of others having disturbed the area. I'm strictly amateur hiker but the terrain is obviously volcanic formation I can describe site more accurately if interested. The only egg shape I disturbed was split and the two halves were approx 3ft apart and fit together as seen in photos. I moistened the surface to highlight detail of embryo
