    Gyrosteus or wood? Or other?

Going over some old finds... When I found this I picked it up as it reminded me of the Gyrosteus (large Jurassic fish) bone that I once found nearby. Quick to put me down my daughter quickly dismissed it as ‘just wood’ but I’m not so sure. Could it be bone of either fish or reptile? thanks for looking
  2. Ever wondered what a sturgeon fin looks like cut down the middle and polished? This is from a large fish called Gyrosteus mirabilis that swam in the seas near whitby all them years ago. i think it’s the cartilage. As found Cut straight down the middle, showing the pyrite too.
