  1. From the album: Middle Devonian

Leiopteria conradi (bivalve) Middle Devonian Windom Shale Moscow Formation Hamilton Group Deep Springs Road quarry Lebanon, NY. collected 6/22/15
  2. Jeffrey P

Devonian plant from Madison Co., NY.

    From the album: Middle Devonian

Plant stem (possibly Psilophyton) Middle Devonian Windom Shale Moscow Formation Hamilton Group Deep Springs Road quarry Lebanon, NY. collected 6/22/15 Terrestrial plant remains (usually poorly preserved) are fairly common at this and other Middle Devonian marine sites in Madison County, NY. The low lying Catskill Delta was located just to the east which included the famed Gilboa forest. It isn't hard to imagine these plant remains being carried out to sea and deposited along with the remains of marine creatures.
  3. Jeffrey P

    Phyllocarid from Madison Co., NY.

    From the album: Middle Devonian

Echinocaris punctate (phyllocarida) Middle Devonian Windom Shale Moscow Formation Hamilton Group Deep Springs Road quarry Lebanon, NY. collected 6/22/15
  4. From the album: Middle Devonian

Palaeozygopleura hamiltonisus (gastropod) Middle Devonian Windom Shale Moscow Formation Hamilton Group Deep Spring Road quarry Lebanon, NY. collected 6/22/15
  5. From the album: Middle Devonian

Tornoceras sp. (goniatite) Middle Devonian Windom Shale Moscow Formation Hamilton Group Deep Springs Road quarry Lebanon, NY. collected 6/22/15
  6. From the album: Middle Devonian

Mucrospirifer mucronatus (brachiopod) Middle Devonian Windom Shale Moscow Formation Deep Springs Road quarry Lebanon, NY. collected 6/22/15 Mucrospirifers are ridiculously common at this site, but they're so fragile collecting a complete one out of the matrix is next to impossible. Single valve specimens inevitably crack or shatter when you try to remove them from the rock. This one, fortunately, has both valves and is less flattened than most.
  7. From the album: Middle Devonian

Palaeozygopleura hamiltonisus (corkscrew-shaped gastropods) Middle Devonian Windom Shale Moscow Formation Hamilton Group Deep Springs Road quarry Lebanon. NY. collected 6/15/15. These little fellas just popped right out of the rock.
  8. From the album: Middle Devonian

Retispira leda (bellerophon gastropod) Middle Devonian Windom Shale Moscow Formation Hamilton Group Deep Springs Road quarry Lebanon, NY collected 6/15/15
  9. From the album: Middle Devonian

Dipleura dekayi (thorax and pygidium) Middle Devonian Windom Shale Moscow Formation Hamilton Group Deep Springs Road quarry Lebanon, NY. collected 6/15/15
  10. From the album: Middle Devonian

Spyroceras sp. (straight-shelled nautiloid) Middle Devonian Windom Shale Moscow Formation Hamilton Group Deep Springs Road quarry Lebanon, NY. collected 6/15/15 More 3D than my other Spyroceras which are usually more flattened. Extracted it from the matrix in half a dozen pieces later glued together.
  11. From the album: Middle Devonian

Bryozoans Middle Devonian Upper Ludlowville Formation Hamilton Group Briggs Road quarry Lebanon, NY. Branching bryozoans like these are generally uncommon in this area.
  12. From the album: Middle Devonian

Pholadella radiata (bivalve) Middle Devonian Windom Shale Moscow Formation Hamilton Group Deep Springs Road quarry Lebanon, NY. collected 5/23/15
  13. From the album: Middle Devonian

Elita fimbrata (spiny brachiopod) Middle Devonian Windom Shale Moscow Formation Hamilton Group Deep Springs Road quarry Lebanon, NY. collected 5/23/15
  14. From the album: Middle Devonian

Cimitaria recurva (bivalve) Middle Devonian Windom Shale Moscow Formation Hamilton group Deep Springs Road quarry Lebanon, NY. collected 5/23/15
  15. From the album: Middle Devonian

Heliophyllum halli (rugose corals) Middle Devonian Upper Ludlowville Formation Hamilton Group Geer Road quarry Lebanon. NY. collected 5/4/15 Coral fossils are uncommon at sites in this area. I only have a handful of ones from here and Deep Springs Road quarry.
  16. From the album: Middle Devonian

Tornoceras sp. (goniatite) Middle Devonian Windom Shale Moscow Formation Hamilton Group Deep Springs Road quarry Lebanon, NY. collected 5/23/15
  17. From the album: Middle Devonian

Greenops sp. (trilobite) Middle Devonian Windom Shale Moscow Formation Hamilton Group Deep Springs Rd. quarry Lebanon, NY. collected 5/23/15
