a nice find of Squalicorax with verts from the german campanian
rocket posted a topic in Fossil News
Year ago two friends of mine found some nice teeth and vertebraes from Squalicorax. As they were found close together - what is very unusual - we decided to write a small paper about it. We came to the solution that the verts and teeth belong to the skull-region of the shark. Finds like this are very rare, not many published till now. Journal was "APH" (www.ap-h.de), founded in Hannover. A nice Paper (now existing 50 Years!), 4 issues a year full of papers about northern germany fossils and more 49-61 (Raquet).pdf -
A friend of mine found this small tooth in upper campanian layers near Hannover. We are a bit unsure, if it is mosasaur or not. Perhaps (idea comes up) it could be a sigmoidalteeth of an ichthyodercidae, but... What do you think? Teeth is small, approx. 20 mm
