Partial ray finned actinopterygian Semionotus sp. Early Jurassic (Hettangian) Newark Supergroup, Hartford Basin, East Berlin Formation. Connecticut. Found on 8/31/2020 The whiteish imprint shows that this fossil has undergone de-phosphatization. This mode of preservation is common in the East Berlin Formation. Link to paper.© 2020 Tim Jones

Partial Semionotus sp. - part and counterpart. Nearly complete - missing caudal fin. Species indeterminate - possibly S. micropterus? Early Jurassic, Shuttle Meadow Formation. Connecticut.

A complete specimen of the Early Jurassic holostean fish, Semionotus sp. - Species indeterminate - possibly S. micropterus? This was found on plate with 2 other partial individuals. East Berlin Formation of Connecticut. Unusually good preservation of the fish from this site. The skull is weathered and dephosphatized, due to previous exposure to the elements. I found this plate on 09/14/2014.

Early Jurassic, East Berlin Formation. Connecticut. Some type of mineral has stained around where the fish fossil was - leaving a ghostly imprint/outline. Hence the picture title. Ptycholepis marshi Newberry. Early Jurassic, (Hettangian) Shuttle Meadow Fm. Hartford Basin, Connecticut. This is one of the more rare fish found in the Newark Supergroup. I more commonly find disarticulated scales. There is a very thin layer of shale over the caudal fins, and part of the body as well. Needs prep by air abrasion.© ©2012 Tim Jones
